Is this true and are they planning to fix this with a future update?

Well I go to the main menu, and got to competitive and it says " OFFLINE" , same with co-op.

I wonder what that means

oh my bad. I haven't gotten a chance to really play the game yet that much. My friend just said there he didn't think there was so I wanted to clarify

Splitscreen is alive and well on the HD consoles.

wait I just looked on the game I honestly can't find an option for 4 player splitscreen. And the box says only 2 player offline.

yep there is online multiplayer

2 player or 4 player?

From what I've heard, R2 supports 2 players in splitscreen, just like Gears. I assume you can take player 2 online as well.

 I wish the same could be said about ps3's FPS games.

MGS4 splitscreen sounds fun...... :(
