Still far behind Majora's Mask in that sense, IMO anyway.

Putting everything else aside that makes Majora's Mask darker, lets just look at the number of deaths in each game:
Lets see... one death in OoT... compared to 3 deaths in MM....
Yeah MM still beats it.

Thats right I've haven't played MM in a long while.
But did any human characters die in MM?
Wow, I never noticed that before. I wish I was able to see this while playing through the game....

Why, exactly? I just finished playing through that game again a few days ago... The only people who might have died were Link's uncle, and the flute kid, right? Don't they both appear in the ending? I forgot.

Lol. I'll never forget how surprised I was when I got attacked and killed by a flock of angry Cuccos! My mother happened to be watching when it happened and she was like: "Wtf is going on?!" I don't know what exactly drove me to stab a Cuccoo in the first place...
OT: I never noticed that either. Thanks, now I have to go play it again!
