Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft leaves Europe to Sony ?

Sardauk said:

All right, I know that Europe was a Sony stronghold in the past with the PS2.

Now it is more of a 50/50, which is not bad..

BUT !

I don't feel like Microsoft is making too much local efforts here :

- The Sony marketing remains very strong (soccer event, gift for radio shows, publicity ...)

- No Netflix for Europe

- No pre-order with codes for Europe

- No special launch event for any games

I'm pretty sure it as an impact (well It does on me), because European players are asking for it.

It just feels like the EU market is not their priority ... they are more busy on the US and even in JP !

What is the impressions of my fellow European 360 players on this forum ?

I would agree with you I know I would just love the netflix feature.

Also advertising just look at any British premier match and Sony have huge advertising onscreen.

I mean the market on that alone must be huge and fair play to them.

Here in Italy XB360 advertising is intensified, as Xmas is approaching, but as always it reaches rare peaks of awfulness. This evening Canale 5 aired again the commercial with the nerdy kid with his skull's back open: it's appalling, even worse than the sugary "Your potential, our passion" ads, and what's most jaw-dropping is that they verbatim address that ad to casual gamers.

Xflop1 ad "Life is short" OTOH rocked , but it couldn't help the console...

Stwike him, Centuwion. Stwike him vewy wuffly! (Pontius Pilate, "Life of Brian")
A fart without stink is like a sky without stars.
TGS, Third Grade Shooter: brand new genre invented by Kevin Butler exclusively for Natal WiiToo Kinect. PEW! PEW-PEW-PEW!

That life is short ad was really good.

well the opposite can be said for sony leaving it all for microsoft.

Where is my resistance2 limited edition?
Why is Resistance 2 released a whole MONTH after NA release?
Why did LBP release later in EU?

Im just saying its not just microsoft short changing EU, Sony and Microsoft are both at fault

Oh yeah and what gives Japan gets a free costume for LBP that arent on EU and NA stores, yet EU gets 2 costumes u gotta pay for yeah people will say wooo for choice, but yeah at a price! 3.99 for a LBP tshirt and 1.59 for a Motorstorm one, seriously???

Im a fanboy for good games but EU always get shafted from all sides(Price and Availability)

+1 for Sony releasing PlayTV for those who like that sort of thing
+1 Microsoft for Releasing The Last Remnant at the same time across the globe(maybe thats microsofts doing, maybe not)I love RPGS so i care about this. especially since i was expecting yet another delay for EU areas

-1 for Sony not helping level 5 to get a global release on White Knight, if microsoft can do it with TLR why cant sony?
-1 for Microsoft for not releasing Tales of Vesperia to EU, dont really know whos at fault

My point is Sony and Microsoft both have there good and bad across the globe. Look at the bigger picture

My theory has always been:

It's not that Europeans really love Sony. We just really dislike Microsoft.

and most people have absolutely no valid reason to justify their hatred beside what their geek friends told them which usually is more a pissing contest anyway.....

that's like my fellow french people who hate US people when they never met one and think because Bush is not looked uppon as nice guy all americans are not nice.... freaking group think.... it's ridiculous....

but anyway isn't MS ahead in other this week... ???? and so far adds in the US are kind of the same they go heavy on the low price tag.... their crawy ad don't have a better impact compare to their cost.... good old simple marketing seems to be more efficient... numbers are here to prove it.....

about netflix... the regular service is not avaiable in europe ??? or is it since last time I've been  there... if they are not active over there... how do you want to have an account anyway ????  I mean even me with my US account when I travel back to france I can't watch movies online... it's a question of copyright and release date that differe something like that... and it's up to netflix, MS can't really do anything about it....

bundles look to be exclusive to europe for a lot of them.... that's some effort IMO

PS3 has outsold the 360 in the US quite a few months this year. You better believe MS will do all they can to maintain there lead here. Now at half the price and a "better" game lineup it's only outselling the PS3 by 20k units per week? And that's using VG chartz numbers.

Over the last months the 360 has recovered over a quarter million units and the worldwide gap is now sitting at 5.8M. Just sayin'.

Sure, but the trend has been reversed. Which means there's no guarantee the ps3 will ever claim 2nd place. 5.8M units are a lot.

This holiday season will be the deciding factor. If PS3 outsells or breaks even with 360 then yup PS3 will win the HD console war for sure.
