Forums - Sales Discussion - ~Famitsu Half-Year Sales Chart 2007 (1/1 - 7/1)~

Here she is, the list of famitsus software for the first half of this year. Only the top 100. Gives some NICE insight on whats going on in Japan. Reveals some pretty big stuff for me. Like Zelda TP only doing 500k there so far LTD :( And RE:4 Wii outselling VF5 for PS3, and the lovely sales of MH:P are put into perspective as it crashes Nintendo's party by being #1 (at least so far this year). Stuff like BD didn't make this list according to GAF because they released last year and had the bulk of their sales then and not this year so they didn't chart.

Thats it, kinda low.

Is the first half of the year slow in japan or what.

Nonquihote Japan just doesn't sell as much software as most of the world. But wow, that's a LOT of Nintendo software (especially DS). The PS2 is holding on strong too.

It's slow everywhere, usually

Interesting...

Only 4 titles in top #10 were actually released this year. Titles #2, #3, #4, #6, #7, #8 - all released last year.

1 million sales in the first half of a year is actually pretty good. I don't think you'll find much more than this in the US either.

Pretty amazing that some titles in the list are into their 3rd year!

Another point of note (and no fanboys - I'm not trying to pick on anyone!)...

Sony have ZERO titles in the list (published).

Microsoft have ZERO as well.

EA have one (Sim City). Koei have one.

Banpresto have 3.

Capcom has 6. Konami have 4. Square Enix have 7.

Sega have 10(!).

Bandai Namco have 13.

(a few other companies, then Nintendo has the rest - probably close to 60)

Slow year? 2006 was the best year for video games in Japanese history and 2007 is well on the way to beating 2006 easily.

That's abosolutely right. I mean only 2 games might have sold over a million, but fully 86 games sold over 100k which is probably easily a record for mid year in Japan. What's more hardware sales are as strong as they have ever been in that territory. Most of everything being sold is DS, both on the hardware and software side, but that system is carrying the market to height it hasn't seen at least since the SNES days.

Damn... No PS3 :( Hopefuly in 08 something magical can happen.

Grandmaster192, Gundom Musou was number 30 on the list and Virtua Fighter 5 was number 97. So the PS3 didn't put a goose egg like you thought.
