Actually in this topic and outside I make generalizations intentionally. It ignites the discussion and gets people to put out their real attitudes on the matter. (nobodies gonna say anything until they can find a weakness in my argument to attack ;) )

That's called intentional flamebait. It's against the forum rules. We don't allow it when we're talking videogames and the same rules apply to a rape discussion. Bring real facts, bring real arguments and do not make sweeping generalizations you can't back up and don't even believe.

Pressing charges was your purogative. Had your pursued that option, you would have been chastized by most anyone in the world, but it was still your option.

Say you're a guy being banged in the ass. When you say no, or stop, you want it to stop immediately, not when the guy feels like your no is sufficient to his definition.

I think we like to be abused, as people. Ever since TV started talking about these things, a lot, every one is either abused, raped, or molested... I think we are convincing ourselves that events happened that didn't. Then we convince ourselves that we're sick, alcoholics, or crazy.

(Deleted a bunch of examples of why people fake these things, because it makes me sound like a dick, and may prevent a victim from getting the help they need. Their pain is real, and they need help; I don't want to ever say anything that makes it harder for real victims.)

The people who falsely claim to be victims make it harder for real victims to come forward.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Creating the thread? Yesterday I thought of a girl I met a week ago... and remembered that I had met her before a couple of years ago. At a party. She was one of the people who witnessed a guy follow me outside (and attacked me) and the crowd of people there noticed it looked suspicious, but did nothing. The subject has been on my mind since.

The purpose is to discuss the topic so I can work it out of my system.

There are enough decent posters on this site that you could have a real exchange of ideas, no need to stir the pot. What's it's come down to now is an debate on semantics.

I didn't really care though. It didn't traumatize me. Why bother putting my ex-wife away just because she broke the on-the- books definition of rape? Frankly I don't consider it rape at all unless it affects you and that is where the definition doesn't exactly meet up with the reality.

also onyx its called leaving things in when I go back to edit. The arguments I made were based off of personal conversations/experiences not statistics and while I realized they were weak arguments I left them in. I could just as easily be a sloppy writer.

I see.  I can't express how deeply it saddens me when I hear of things such as this, but I'm not sure how inciting a discussion about rape by making inflammatory statements will help.  Rape is vile.  It is reprehensible.  It is indefensible.  If a person is not already aware of these facts, they are unlikely to end up being convinced otherwise.  To bring up a subject like this in a seeming attempt to have it made light of is rather distasteful, to be honest.

Hates Nomura.

Its not something I would ever bring up to real life male friends. Thats the reason why I would think of making the discussion here.

With the anonymous nature of the internet, people are more likely to be honest about their opinions too.
