Sometimes, when you first get a game, and start playing it, it will seem like the best game ever. Then a few weeks later, you'll have what I like to call "perspective."

Saying R2 is better than CoD4 or The Orange Box, is a statement that you just can't make on the fly. It's something that you need time to reflect on. Months.

It's like me saying, "Oh the new 24 movie is better than Godfather 2!"

I mean, I can't say that you're wrong because I've never seen the new 24 movie...but I understand your psychology, have seen other opinions, understand the situation, and I very much believe that it's impossible for you to be right.

Yep. I'd like to think that's why there were so many 100% reviews for GTAIV despite the fact that the game clearly has it's share of flaws that everyone jumped on after the game had been out for a couple months.

I did a first day buy for R2 last night but I still need to keep playing before I can have a legit opinion. As in play the whole campaign and sample the online modes.

First impressions were that they changed things like the basic control layout that had become second nature to me after the insane number of hours I logged on the first. The health system is less forgiving (harder) but very much in line with games like Gears, CoD4 and Uncharted, so no complaints there.

It looks much better thanks to the improved lighting and effects. Much more life-like all around. Resolution is the same, frame rate is just as smooth, but only basing this on the early levels before the game engine is running at full load.

I'm still willing to say this is the best FPS on the PS3 since CoD4, based on initial impressions.

Already have Gears 2 on order; we'll see which one gets the most play once I have both on hand.

That's very true, I just get so satisfied when I kill a CHimera in this game, never have I played an FPS where I was so thrilled when I killed another ennemy.

Im sure that 2-3 months from now, my feelings would be the same for this game..

When I started playing Farcry 2 I thought it was crap, same with GTA IV.

Also, months after I played MGS4, I still believe its the best game Ive played in my life.

So maybe your theory is flawed?

As for my theory, it isn't that you're seeing the game with rose colored glasses(which you are, but that's just a needless debate).

My theory is that CoD4 and The Orange Box are so great that you can't really see their awesomeness and greatness totally until at least a few weeks after you've played them. Same with their flaws, so few of which there are. Thus, you should give R2 a few months before you start making outrageous claims like "best shooter ever." Because of all the shooters ever, CoD4, and TOB are probably the best. It's just very hard to believe, my assumptions being what they are, that this game is not just equal, but better. That would make it one of the best games of all time Leo-J.

You see, I know you've been looking forward to this game. Calling it a GoaT is something I could have predicted you would say since the hype machine started hitting us pretty hard.

The likely truth is, most gamers wouldn't think this is the best shooter of all time. Most likely.

I love it how you twist words around for a game, that us gamers would want to enjoy, just because of fanboyism does this happen.

R2 is one of the only games this gen that does something right, its fun.

I dont' twist words. People imply things that they might not realize it appears they've implied.

I thought I read you say that CoD4 and Half-Life 2 were worse than Resistance 2.

If they aren't in the short running list for the best shooters of all time, then I'm missing some damn fine shooters!

I still find the controls a bit wonky in comparison to CoD4, in CoD4 the controls were perfect for me. Instead of controlling a character like in most games, the player became my weapon of death able to dominate entire teams and get headshots across a battlefield with ease.

@leo-j, have you beat the game yet, the last part is really cool.

I played the beta, pre-ordered ir, should be arriving tomorrow. I'm a little dissapointed there's no campaign co-op, though.
