It could get all the sales in the world but the Wii needs to pick it up gameswise if it ever wants to be seen as the PS2's equal in the eyes of most gamers. Only my opinion, oviously. Sorry for getting offtopic a bit, but sometimes people get a little too caught up with sales they forget about everything else.

Absolutely, that is a deal breaker. I mean, how can you even begin to claim best or most innovative system of all time until you have a K.P. game with Rufus waggle and with interactive dance scenes of all the music from the show? I mean, the naked mole rap is a must. LOL roflmao
I doubt it last year and I doubt it now even more...
And I still don't know if Monster Hunter 3 is that big of a system seller. Monster Hunter on PS2 didn't do wel.

Even if MH3 sells like the PS2 gams, it will still be on the higher end of Wii sellers and console games in general in Japan for this generation.
Besides, there's always Samurai Warriors 3 and Kingdom Hearts 3.
The Wii sure is getting a lot of threequels...

For now i would say no, but there seems to be quite a bit of high quality Japanese software on the horizon and that could help to change the picture considerably.
no it won't, but it is because of the wii that the console market isn't shrinking drastically. Look at the handheld sales, the DS alone is gonna sell way more than system ever and that's not even counting the PSP.

The Wii is in a slump right now in Japan. and even while slumping it's still selling very well. And that slump isn't going to last long. Animal Crossing is going to be huge, and we're already seeing the major third party Japanese shift. At the TGS, 3 third party Wii games were in the top 12 as voted by journalists (Sega's 428, Probe's Lets Tap and Capcom's Monster Hunter 3). And the Wii just got the new Tales main story announcement.
Personally I'm expecting the Wii to get the next Dragon Quest game as well. I really do expect the Wii to do as well as, if not better than, the PS2.
