this is a serious question because some pc gamers could be on the fence about getting a christmas console and then realize the wow expansion is out for only $40 bucks, I think this expansion could dip into console sales.

wait what!
you really think this is possible.....well trust me it aint happening.
WOW is BIG but....not big enough to lower Wii Sales, PS3 Sales or the Xbox 360 System Sales for that matter....
WOW
WOW
Hardware sales doubt it, software sales, probably a small impact, especially with the huge number of new console titles coming out...
Wow is huge but the WoW crowd is really different and more hardcore than the console crowd. WoW player are most of the time only WoW players (because they spend so much time on it).
How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...
Since it's $40, it shouldn't really dip into console sales. Software sales, on the other hand, sure (assuming WOW'ers play consoles).
PC gamers would never ever buy a console because pc gaming are always better.
Well, ask yourself this question.
Will people who don't own WoW buy WoW because of this expansion?
If not, there are not very many console and WoW owners, probably ala 20% of the relevant crows, so around 2M.
This means that 3% of the console owners are going to buy 1 less console game this holiday.
Hardly signifficant.

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS
I really doubt it. In fact, no, it won't. Burning Crusade didn't do anything and I doubt this will either.
BC released after the holydays, not at the same time than the mass of console titles released for holydays...
The software impact will be more than 1 title for those peoples playing both wow and console ( like I am ).
Issue is not cost but the time they will invest in wotlk instead of investing it in new games...
Right now I play wow at most 4 hours a week ( time it takes to clear Sunwell). Once wotlk is out, for a few weeks I will be playing wow 40h/week for a few weeks. Time I currently spend playing PS3 games so there will be an impact...
