Hi all,

Finally jump into HD gaming! I'll be buying a 360 somewhere next week. Took me a long time to decide between PS3 or 360, but eventually the number of RPGs, Alan Wake and Final Fantasy 13 really persuaded me to go Wii60. RE5 is my most wanted though, and I have good faith that the 360 version will be at least as good as the PS3 one.

Since the 360 has a ridiculously big library I need some advice on what games to buy. I know I can just look at metacritic, but I have had good advice on VGC before, plus I have more faith in the average member here then reviewers these days.

I'm not really into shooters, but if they're really good I can absolutely enjoy those. Please keep in mind that I suck at shooters, so that online is not important to me. I put more value in story.

I'm planning on buying 4 games to start with:

2 JRPGs out of: Tales of Vesperia/Lost Odyssee/Eternal Sonata/Infinite Undiscovery/Blue Dragon
1 WRPG out of: Mass Effect/Fable 2/Fallout 3/Oblivion
1 other: GTA IV/Gears 1/Bioshock/CoD4

Of course other advice is very welcome as well.

Start with Tales of Vesperia and Eternal Sonata for jrpg, Fable 2 for wrpg and bioshock for "other".

uh why gears 1??? gears2 is out this friday. haha buy that. its worth it.

Ninja Gaiden 2, but I'll warn ya its HARD, but very fun.

An early game but I reaally loved Kameo, lots of fun!

I would have to reccomend Bioshock, I never owned the game myself but had some playtime with it. If you like a complex story you cannot go wrong with it.

And Oblivion was great, although you really feel it is a game (I never really got lost in it). Tales of Vesperia should be worth a purchase as well - was it released in PAL territories already?

You absolutely have to get Geometry Wars! The game is awesome! And watch out for Banjo Kazooie (N64). Xbox Live is really worth it.

I would get Lost Odyessy, but that's only because I haven't played Tales of Vesperia yet. I would also say get Mass Effect and Gears of War. Other games include Ninja Gaiden 2 and GTA 4. You should also try the Xbox Live Arcade games such as Castle Crashers, Bomberman Live, Bionic Commando: Rearmed, and the upcoming Banjo Kazooie.

One thing - I suggest you buy the 60gb if you aren't already. NXE lets you improve your experience in games, especially games like Mass Effect which aren't optimized like they should.

My suggestion is this:

Tales of Vesperia, Last Remnant/Lost Odyssey (whichever strikes you as better)
All 4 WRPGS are excellent, I couldn't pick just one myself. But when in doubt get the cheapest game!
For your other I suggest instead to get: Braid, Castle Crashers (If you play on getting Live Gold) Geometry wars and a couple of other Live games.

Also Bioshock and Call of Duty 4 are good games.

JRPGs from your list I'd recommend Lost Oddysey and Tales (traditional JRPG and great story telling, respectively).

WRPG is a tough one...all 4 were helluv fun. ...ARGH... Fable 2 (easily accesible and can be played in short stints). maybe.

I LOVE freaking Gears 1, but from your intro I'd recommend Bioshock (great atmoshphere).

If you like ANY of Sid Meier's Civilization games, Civ: Revolution is really a great, easier version of those games.

Too bad you don't like online shooters though, Left 4 Dead and Gears 2 are going to rock. Hope you enjoy your 360 though, I love mine!
