Forums - General - To those who took offense to what I said in the PS3 selling 4.48 million...

Thread.

Sorry to have lumped all of you together and that I said what I did.  I got to the point of frustration with people knocking one of the systems that I own.  No, not my RRoD problematic 360 (Luckily haven't had one yet in a year of owning that), but the PS3 that seems to be a favorite amongst being bashed on this site.

The Source, I want to specificaly call you out and apologize to you individually.  You did try to explain to me how the numbers are generated here, but they still don't quite add up to me nor be much more than a very educated estimate of consoles sold.   Then again, after staring at database tables all day, numbers start to all look the same.   Maybe this weekend when I have actually had a good nights rest and don't have my brain packed with other information I can look at it again and see exactly how accurate they are and what the downsides to those numbers may be.

Others,  there are some of you who were rational and tried to explain to my kindly and got lumped into my generalization of those who like the Wii.   To that, I apologize.

To those who decided to combat me by name calling, I won't say I'm sorry or apologize, but I will say that I wish it didn't get to the point that it did and that the situation could have been avoided.

As you can tell, I do love the systems that I do own, but am not a fanboy of just one system and will blatantly ignore facts that disprove my points.  I also know when I am wrong and will admit it when it happens.  I don't want to see any of the major video game companies going out of business like so many seem to want to happen to the PS3 and Sony.   The more options we have, and the more power we can get in these consoles will mean that those of us who love gaming are the winners and there are no losers.  it will encourage more creativity from the console makers as well as the software developers and we can get new and exciting new games and systems that we can play on if we want.

 So, things cool now?

Yo your cool man...I been in this position 2 times now..luckliy you didnt get banned...but your cool what everyone was trying to say was that Sony shipped 4.8 million units to the market and 3.5 million were sold to the customers...leaving 700,000 units on store shelves...I just think you had a miscommunication and thats cool..everyone makes mistakes...your forgived by me bro...^_^

Yeah, I just hate it when people say that our numbers aren't accurate. If you've looked at the comparisons that have been put up between us and the NPD, we aren't doing that bad at all.

Also, just don't let it get out of hand... sometimes we all need to go outside or do something else for a while

Thats what a nice long commute home can do from work. ;)

yeah its just people need to realize that these numbers are already close to NPD's...but you will have bashers on here disagreeing and saying their wrong...but jjseth just be cool and relax..and enjoy the fact we got free access to numbers that are accurate with NPD...I'm not a fanboy of any system either I just buy consoles to buy when I see that the company is in good profit and the games are coming out as planned....^_^

All I ask for, is if anyone has bad things to say about any console, is to think twice and if it's going to tick off someone just don't say it. It just gets old quickly, especially the PS3 bashing that does happen too often. I have a feeling that it's a hot button that can send a normally low key and relaxed person to the point of going off on another.

I agree with this. On any given forum, it's particularly annoying for anyone who owns the console that's least represented in terms of fans.

For example, it's very possible to say something that is completely appropriate, albeit critical, of the PS3. For example, it hasn't sold as many systems as the 360 thus far! That is true, I don't think anyone is disputing that. However, how annoying would it be to have this fact pushed in your face by every poster any time you pointed out something positive about the PS3? It's not that invidividually, these posts are trollish... it's just that there are so many of them, that it gets a little tiresome. By contrast, few people are quick to point out anything positive in the PS3's favor.  Whether those pro-Wii posts happen to be constructive and appropriate or not, when there are 8 times as many of those posts as there are pro-PS3 posts, it just... I can understand why it would get a tad tiresome, whether the people are actually trolling or not (and make no mistake, there are definitely pro-Wii trolls, I'm just saying that not all of them are).

I'm really not sure there's anything you can do about that problem but to try and create a positive atmosphere and get more PS3/360 fans on board, so it becomes less dominated by Wii fans (and JJ, we actually had a post about this recently, it does seem that there are more PS3 fans than there were, which is a good step).

I missed whatever happened, but I have to give you respect for this.
