Forums - Gaming - Review Score Bruhaha:R2 critics weigh in...

Carnival Games is a videogame on the Wii Cloud.

Metacritic Average: 56

Sales: Higher then any game you listed.

So talk about a game that was reviewed by fanboys!  Why this game should be rated higher then even Uncharted and HS.  So what... 95?

Around the Network

well if it's selling it must be some kind of good...
Just because I don't like it doesn't mean everyone else won't.

The reviews show that they obviously are not aware of what a Wii owner is looking for within a game.

Heavenly Sword has a 79 metacritic average when the game should really be somewhere around an 8.8

Uncharted has a 8.8 average where it should be somewhere around a 9.5

RFOM averages as a 8.6 when those who played it put it somewhere around a 9.3

Your Carnival Games analogy is weak at best. First off Carnival games are not a tangible sold good. They are closer to a service. Plus there is hundreds of other factors not limited to the fact that Carnival's prey on humanistic drive to spontaneous purchase. Carnival Games are not reviewed either so what really is your point?

Reviews are meant to lead the average consumer in the right direction on what is worth buying over something else. This is their purpose do you not agree? Hardcore gamers like you or I, ppl who surf gaming forums are much more informed on a game's significance. We are highly knowledgable of the games we are interested in already and do not need to hear it from a word of mouth reviewer(to an extent). Yet common/casual consumers are not that knowledgeable of games before a review tells them. If a review says the game is bad or that it does not compete with other games they will not buy it. As hardcore gamers we are better at making these decisions for ourselves.

My point is....
The hardcore gamers who already knew about these games, and regardless of the media giving it low scores, knew better and still got these games. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the casual game buyer. They missed out on the opportunity because the reviews said otherwise.

This is why I cannot tolerate shifty reviews that in return hinder the success of the game and it's developers.

I know that's your opinion, but really they don't deserve that score you gave them. Heavenly Sword wasn't a good game. The battle system was weak. There was no real challenge in it. I kept pressing square the whole time, and nobody hurt me. Story isn't good and there is no replay value. The Uncharted average score is spot on, imo. Resistance was a slow-paced generic shooter.

Everyone has their own opinion, and it looks like the majority of the reviewers don't agree with your score. Just play your game and stop worrying about review scores. It looks like it won't affect you on your purchase. Also, since when was an 8 a bad score?

Heavenly Sword was not that good of a game? Story wasn't good? I find that extremely hard to believe as I have played it and the story is phenomenal. Combat is also not as simple as people peg it out to be as I frequently put that myth to rest in my gamestop. I put the game in and let the accuser who swears the game can just be destroyed by just pressing square or triangle. Yea, needless to say they got their butt wooped. Doing something like that will only get you through the first two stages. You most assuredly cannot do that against the bosses, trust me, I tried, not pretty. I also sell that game with virtually every PS3 I sell as it is the first game that catches many buyer's eye. Have not gotten one complaint on the purchase either.Story wasn't good? Really(I must hear this, PM me about it as it is off topic)?

Uncharted may be....

RFOM? What is slow paced about it? There are very little cutscenes with any kind of drawn out dialogue, enemies always coming at you. The only time it could be slow paced is if you are standing still, and that is your fault. Generic? FPS shooters in general are a dime a dozen, this is true. But I cannot name one that uses an alternate version of actual History(WWI) has a humonculous like alien(the chimera) taking over human bodies, utilized a weapon wheel letting you select any of the weapons you have collected so far, with each weapon having a very unique alternate fire ability. Can you? If so please tell me the name of this game for I am heavily interested.

tell me if REsistance 2 hype never crossed MGS4, Halo 3, GTa 4, FF13 & even LBP

how the hell was it meant to be "the best game ever?"

how do you come to such a dreadful conclusion?

Resistance 2 was, has been, TODAY, touted as the best and most innovated console shooter ever, by a number of people who has posted in this very thread.

I call BS!

That's how it works. You guys use after the fact assumptions, instead of what was said.

LBP in Japan:

"Nobody thought it was actually gonna sell a lot there did they!?"

Trust me, on this forums, I've heard plenty of hype about R2, and from that hype, one would assume that it would be at least as good as Gears 2, which as certainly been hyped to the level of "best game ever."

Let me prove it for you:

dis game is sony's answer to halo right now resistance 2 will blow away dis christmas

Now look at this thread:

Over half the people in this thread hype R2 as "better than Gears 2."

If Gears 2 is hyped like those games you've mentioned, then R2 was hyped by a ton of people to be better than those games you've mentioned. "Best game of all time" isn't a reach.

Don't ever come out after the fact and say what happened was "obvious." It wasn't. Nobody knew if G2 was gonna get higher than R2 until it happened, and more than half the people on this forum expected R2 to be better than G2, and some still do.

I hate having to keep saying this, but it doesn't matter anyway.

Well, that's ludacris! It's obvious that Valkyria Chronincles is the best game ever.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

OK,just cause games dont get 90+ on metacritic does not mean there not good games, and again,YOu cant give the second game a better score than the first simple because the first was over rated(over rated because at its release it was the best game on PS3,Much like perfect dark zero was on 360)
