Wow, where's common sense? How can they not test on an SDTV? HDTVs aren't standard yet!! I really want this game but I'm not buying an HDTV to play it. I guess I'll rent it first and see if I can read it.

Does anyone have a pic or video or something to demonstrate this? I'm not doubting it, I just want to see how bad it is.

Man that sux... i normally game on my 20" SDTV in my room cuz that's where my router is located and it's more convenient for me.
What actually bothered me more about the demo wasn't so much the size of the text, but the fact that the text and the character's speech bubbles go by so fast that i have to speed-read as fast as i can just to be able to follow what they're saying!
They should have had a button icon to advance all text dialogue, except during cutscenes, where they should have slowed the text speed up a bit.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
Well, just read the text of Banjo....on the N64. It was fairly large.

I didn't check the demo options but "most of the time" there is an option for text scrolling speeds. I just got my xbox back today so I'll download and see if I can find such option.
@Claude
I haven't seen any videos or really looked for that matter but even if you find one things such as screen size and how far you sit from the TV will all have an impact on you personally. I would hate for you to find a video, think it looks ok, then buy the game to find it unreadable. Or having the opposite happen. I would suggest to anyone curious to download the demo on XBL if they can and see for themselves. If you only have an arcade maybe rent it first?

I'm curious if this will be fixed in future presses of the game? Or does that ever happen? I really have no idea.
If so, it would no doubt still be a bummer for those SDTV gamers in the meantime, but at least you'd eventually be able to play it properly.
i just played the demo, and the text is perfectly readable. i am playing on an hdtv, but i'm struggling to see how this would be hard to see on a sdtv. the font doesn't seem that small!
clearly the $20 saved on buying the game at $39.99 was deducted from its Script and Text budget....
I also do not see how they did not test this on an sdtv. I have an hdtv so I had no problem with the text.
