The Ghost of RubangB said: I think he meant to say that the Democratic party was just united under an amazing new candidate? Palin doesn't have a chance in 2012. If she wins the nomination, then Obama will get about 70% of the popular vote. A lot of Republicans will blame her for McCain's loss, and they won't give her the nomination. That is my 2012 prediction. |
I don't blame Palin for McCain's loss.. I blame McCain for McCain's loss. McCain would have gotten annihilated at the polls without Palin, because the Democrats were gonna go for Obama no matter what (well over 80% of the so-called Clinton Democrats went for Obama by all measures as well), and the Republican base would have just sat this one out if it was McCain/Romney, McCain/Giulianni or McCain/Lieberman like so many in the media were predicting.
The 2012 election will be entirely about Barack Obama and how he performs during his first term in office. Like I've said before, it will be interesting to watch not only how he performs as President, but also how the media covers him as well. For example, will they try to cover for him or give him a pass if he makes a mistake or if, as Joe Biden has said, he is tested by some kind of domestic or international crisis within his first year in office.
2010 is also important because if Obama does not perform well in his first couple of years in office, the Republicans could try to gain some momentum in their favor and take back some seats in Congress lik they did back in '94. If Obama is solid in his first 2 years in office, he'll in all likely-hood take 2012 as well barring some catastrophe of some sort.
