Forums - Sony - Heavenly Sword is up ! !

@CameronHall11

Thats basically what I felt

Maybe I was bit too harsh with the rating though.

I'll bump it up from 4.5/10 to 6/10

I'd have to play it to give a proper impression, but it sounds atypically Sony in my opinion...

1GB download (WTF?) - (in Australia this is basically $5-$10 of bandwidth - no one has unlimited connections)

5min demo/gameplay

Excellent visuals & sound

Movie "attempt" cinematics

Average gameplay (confusing controls?)

...

I think Sony will hurt themselves by releasing demos (honestly). The "wow" factor with the graphics will wear off after a few minutes. If the game isn't top notch, it will turn a lot of people off - and they will lose sales.

Very curious to see what the feedback on this one is in the long term.

Just another typicall anit Sony post form Shams in my opinion.

Arent wii owners all about the controls ? HS has great game play, if it was a typical button smasher you'd be shieting all over it for it.  But no matter what its a sony game so you got to do your best to beat it down.

Like you said you did not play.

If the demo is suppose to sell me on the game, personally it did the opposite. Having heard so many Sony fans trumpeting the grandeur of this game for a long time, I ended up disappointed.

The game looks great although it's a tad bit too shiny for my tastes. The CGI runs smoothly and looks impressive. From there, the game is just a very polished hack and slash.

Battling dozens of bad guys at one time grew old very fast ( even in this short demo!)

She had some really nice moves and looked rather elegant while attempting to run them through the cheese grater. As some have stated before there is no gore. I could care less, as I don't get off on the morbid desire to see others bleed, but if you are using another persons body as a pin cushion, realistically there would be blood, and lots of it.

The most fun I had in the game was actually having to attempt the QTE-esqe (ala Shenmue) sudden button commands in order to have her perform some stunts well, or at all. I thought it mixed up the pace some and let you interact with some dynamic cinemas.

The controls were ok, nothing stellar though. She didn't move on a dime, rather you're more able to guide her as she attempts to put the enemies through the meat grinder. So attempting to strategize your bladed salvo isn't really an option.

Sixaxis is lowsey but I don't think we have yet to see a decent use this function in a game. (Super Rub A Dub perhaps?)

Overall, based on the demo, I see this a good-looking mediocre game. And, truthfully I see this more as a hyped up hope for the PS3-only cats out there who have been dying for some good games to hit the market before the Holiday season.

This could sell big as a "hardcore" game is needed to tide over many in the PS3 circles and it reeks of a God of War-esque clone.

Well though I agree that's a pretty harsh judgement from Shams at this point we are so far hearing conflicting reports on the quality of the controls. You say they are good, but Cameron and DarthDevidem didn't like them, so you really can't fault Shams for being unsure about this game.

Apparently DoesWhatNintenDon't wasn't too impressed either.

Yeah im not a fanboy at all( I love all 3 next gen consoles) but I was very disapointed in HEAVENLY SWORD. I will rent it so I can see what happens in the story. Besides Ninja Theory made Kung Fu Chaoes which sucked( it was a rip off of the great game Super Smash Bros). I have faith in the new Ratchet( I HAVE ALL THE RATCHET GAMES) and Uncharted( Have all the Jak games and CRASH games)

I still havent finished downloading it hehehe. I left for a while and its about to hit 400mb, when I play it Ill give my rating :)

Hs is shaping out to be more of a harcore game, complex gameplay that the average joe will hate. You ever see a dude go nuts playing NGS because he sucked you know what i mean. I don't see how real gamers can complain about the controls, i'am quite happy the controls are not made for the average button smashing idiot. Theres a learning curve that pays off with great cinematic moves.

Casual will hate it, purists/hardcore will love it, core gamers well graphics and story will make or break the game for them. Iam sticking with my million seller prediction.

To bad they did not add a boss battle to the demo, the best thing about these type of games are the boss battles.

I agree the fighting styles are great in variety and very accessible to the hardcore( like me) but it was too choppy and a action game like this should be 60fps not 30fps( GOD OF WAR, DEVIL MAY CRY, and NINJA GAIDEN SIGMA all run at 60fps). Im definitely renting it for the story

God of war runs at 60fps? Doesnt that game run around 25fps?
