Forums - Gaming - R2 vs G2 - what features included in game is better than the other?

i was wondering regarding the people that will buy resistance 2 and gears 2 on launch.

what do you feel, has R2 or G2 have better features over the other?

for an example i am going to buy resistance 2, i feel these features are better over gears 2

  • more massive boss battles
  • more enemies on screen
  • better weapons
  • better in-game level(acts) variety
  • more unlockables
  • online perks (beserks)
  • exp points system, gained from single, co-op and multi
  • home intergration (coming soon)
  • class based user charachters online
  • online co-op split screen
  • 8 player co-op on a seperate dedicated story
  • upto 60 player lag free online matches and team matches, including a free for all.

so for gears 2 what i feel the features is better over resistance 2

  • a more exciting grafical look to the game 3rd person
  • quicker paced
  • tried and trusted cover system
  • vehicle use including new flying sections
  • structure damage with new unreal engine
  • better cut scenes

ive been as honest as i can, now its your turn

yes its tue gears sales will be more than R2, but non of that profit goes into my back back pocket, as long as game is good to play thats all that matters

coverage again gears coverage will be more, i mean more people and outlets will comeout of the turtle shell and give out reviews like WHAM! Gaming  did on orig gears.

im getting tired of g2vr2 threads

a sony fan will choose r2

and a 360 fan will choose r2

i think everyone should leave it at that

You posted this 20 minutes ago and make another thread comparing the two?

The only feature set I care about is fun.  I played the R2 beta and I found the co-op fun but the multiplayer lacking.  Based on the original 2 games I also found the Gears campaign much more fun the the Resistance 1 campaign.  I actually cancelled my R2 reserve since I've gotten a backlog of games now but will probably re-purchase it for the co-op campaign once I catch up with Fable 2, Dead Space, & Gears 2.

Completed X360:
High Def Movie Collection

I'd add Horde mode to the Gears list.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Going by the review sites that have reviewed both, this is what I come up with.

Highest production values ever in gaming = Gears 2 (IGN)

"It provides a truly electric action experience, building on the original with intense, astonishingly epic set-pieces. What's more, the presentation is the closest we’ve got to starring in a full-blown action flick."

Pushing HD Graphics to a new level = Gears 2 (IGN)

"The world around you is frequently breathtaking, radiating an unmatched beauty and superb variety – far more so than the first game, famous as much for its love of brown as its brutal combat - from dense forests to haunting underground caverns, plus a few surprises along the way. It's a game that demonstrates hi-def visuals and rib-shaking sound at their very best: Marcus and the boys look fantastic, with even more detail and grittiness than the original, while the Locust look as menacing as ever."

Best AI of any game = Gears 2 (IGN)

"Thanks to some thoroughly rewarding level design, combined with some of best – if not the best - enemy AI in the business, Gears of War 2 provides an exhilarating, challenging and visceral experience that utilises the series' pioneering cover mechanic with masterful aplomb"

Best Level Design = Gears 2 (IGN)

"The Unreal Engine 3 has never looked better. Characters and enemies are bursting with detail while the levels are a masterclass in style and design."

Best atmospher (AI comes into this) = Gears 2 (IGN)

"Such is the intensity of the fight that if you're caught in the open, it's unlikely you'll last more than a few seconds. The Locust horde, especially standout addition the Bloodmount, is an even tougher, more elusive target than before. Darting from one hiding place to the next, they take full advantage of the world, using short, sharp burst attacks before ducking back into cover. There's a level of cunning on display which genuinely satisfies – your opponents actually feel like formidable enemies, not some stunted algorithm, and the sensation of war is overwhelming. "

Best story = Resistance 2 (IGN)

" By contrast, Resistance 2 is very Hale-centric, and focuses much more on his actions and what he wants to do. That's fine, but his motivations behind what his decisions are or why he chooses to act a certain way or go to a specific location aren't fully explored. As a result, some elements of the story aren't fully cohesive, and a large number of questions are left unanswered, which could potentially confuse players until the hypothetical Resistance 3 eventually is released"

Nothing more to rate.

Gears 2 - 5

Resistance 2 - 1

I'm not buying R2 because I don't have a PS3 yet. :(

I'm not sure that I would say I'm buying Gears 2 over R2 because if I had both systems I'd buy both. I'd buy Gears 2 first because:

- addicted to multiplayer; I've always enjoyed the one-life per round (no endless re-spawn) battles that Gears delivers. I've found it to be a bit more tactical than other on-line modes.
- looking forward to the new maps and the floating Camera in Gears 2.
- "invested" in the Gears mythos; since I've played Gears 1 (and haven't Resistance) I want to see how things play out.
- Finally, Gears 2 has a Latino as a primary, secondary character?? We are taking over the world!! Oh, sorry.

2 player split screen co-op for R2. My gf and i are dyin to play this since we finished the first one 2gether. Isnt there 3 different story for R2? Single, 2player co-op, and 8player co-op? Just curious or i mitve read it wrong sumwhere.

Online looks to be like the biggest difference, Gears was 4 vs 4, Gears 2 supports 5 vs 5, Resistance 2 is 30 vs 30 (6 squads each team). People say this mode is well done and lag free, can't wait to try this and 8 player co-op out myself.

Seems they have implemented the same crouched running as they did in Gears 1, as a physical therapist I dislike it as it's very unrealistic to me. I've mainly seen the ending of Gears 2, that part seems very disappointing to me, similar as the first game's ending wasn't a highlight. Same bad acting juicing bodybuilding space marines overall it seems as well... I can however see why this game may appeal to other people, but I'm more the Half-Life / Resistance type of person myself.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

How about we wait for both game's release before commenting on the boss battles, in-game level variety, better cutscenes, better weapons and all that? :/

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...
