Depends on how they start off. I plan to keep my N64 around for a long times, and have my kids start off playing classics like SM64, OoT, and MM.

I'm 17, and I grew up with the SNES. My brother got me into it when I was around 5, so I've been around the gaming scene since the 2D days. I definitely appreciate the newer graphics and such, but I haven't gotten to where I mainly care about graphics. I still love playing my SNES, and I've been going back to play NES games lately. (Mother 1)
I love a good art style more than amazingly realistic graphics and such.
The Mother 3 Fan Translation is done! Everyone go get it right now! (Mother3.fobby.net)
Play Earthbound for the SNES ; ; Do it, it's awesome!
Proud participater of this year's Wii Secret Santa event! Hopefully you'll join the merriment next year!

Ditto here, though I'll be using the Virtual Console if possible and will start with something more like Kirby.
I' am 19. I appreciate them. My first system was the NES. Granted it is not atari, but i would still say it's getting close. I remember when i opened my snes, my second system, and popped in Killer Instinct....oh my lord XD
CURRENTLY PLAYING: Warframe, Witcher 2

Maybe they do. I mean, I never had to hand crank a car to start it, but I think I can appreciate what I have now. I don't consider myself an elitist or anything. Back when I was playing Pac Man, Burger Time, and Commando at my local Minit Mart, I was having a blast. I wasn't thinking about how hard I had it. Every year my hobby just kept getting better.
Remember when movies had REALLY shitty special effects? Same thing. We appreciate the advances, but it was never really a problem.
I'm an older gamer (31). Graphics arguments are nothing new. I remember when Final Fantasy IV came out (or, as it was then, II :) -- many of my friends refused to give it a shot, because the graphics weren't impressive (even then there were standards).
I remember the decision I made then, and it continues to be the decision I make today.
There are some kids who can watch black & white movies early in life, and some adults who never can. Usually, it's more about imagination than age.

Good comparison
