(PhysOrg.com) -- A quiet wind turbine developed in Scotland is now available in the US and Canada. Its developers say that the roof-based turbine can provide significant power for homes and commercial buildings alike.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Awesome! If this keeps up, we could be getting closer and closer to less reliance on oil. To think that covers up to 30%. Get some solar panels and you're set.

With Green technology, smart urban planning, public transit infrastructure and conservation, the U.S. could already have been off it's oil dependence. The problem isn't that it's not possible, it's that it's not preferable in a civilization of convenience, and not being fostered in a political system built around corruption.

Which reminds me, have the U.S. closed the loop yet that allows businessmen to get the same tax credit on extremely large SUV's that is supposed to be used for farmers to purchase tractors?

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

We have enough coal here to run everything for a few hundred years... we just need some super light, cheap, and safe rechargeable battery or a cheap safe coal gassification method, oh yeah and to get politicians out of the Oil Company pockets.

There's no reason why today we couldn't start installing wind mills, solar cells, coal and gas production, bio-diesel and natural gas vehicles, and improve public transportation. The thing is, oil is still cheap. Even $4/gallon is cheap in the big picture. Few people want to commit or invest.

I don't know this will result in the ugliest cities ever. Normally wind turbines go away from many small ones and get aggregated to few very big turbines that should be able to replace thousands and thousands of these ugly little buggers.

If you think Windmills are ugly Kyros, you must really hate all those giant polls with thick black wires going to every house.

Sorry, all I heard was: I hate the planet. I hate cheap energy.

I would hate that. But in contrast to the States where you have these poles in Germany the wires are actually laid underground. Great concept .

@ Kyros, he's from Canada, as I am and yeah we have wires all over the place. Also, well while looking ugly, it's much better for the environment and people. Who cares what it looks like? If we invest in it and/or buy it, they will put more efforts in making it more effective and better looking.

Anyway, this is really awesome... Wow up to 30%...

How long do you think it will take before The Decepticons or Cobra steal this thing to power some kind of doomsday weapon?
