Forums - Microsoft - Something cool I never knew about the 360 controller

Well, I recently got a new PC, and I was looking into getting a good controller for it(because controllers are better for some games, like Psychonauts), and I came upon a thread that said you could just used a wired 360 controller, plug it into a usb slot, download this software:

http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/gaming/download.mspx

and you could use the 360 controller on your PC.

Very cool. When you press the metal button in the middle, it pops a little achievement(looks just like one) up on your PC that you can click and it shows you the options and help related stuff to the controller. Glad my second 360 controller was wired, official.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I figured this out when I brought my controller to play Dead Space on my friend's PC. I thought it was pretty cool, especially when I read that people were having control issues on the PC version. What's also cool is that the controls for Dead Space on PC are exactly the same as the 360 version when you plug it in.

lol, sweet, because the 360 controller is ideal for that game, to me at least.

i bought 2 for $36 for nba 2k9 ^^ was gonna get wireless one but not worth the $60-$70 each (controller + gaming receiver) when ur buying for 2 people.

Zen, you can also use a wireless controller (or other wireless products like the steering wheel) on your PC too.

You'll have to purchase one of these for about $20

Doesn't matter since you have a wired controller already but good to know for future reference

Good to know actually.

All Game for Windows live games have support built in, except for RTS games. I've used it for Gears, Lost Planet Colonies, Shadowrun, etc.

I use my PS3 controller for PC games, I just downloaded the software required and it works perfectly

I don't have a 360 and I knew :D

Yeah, everything that uses DX9 or later is required to support the 360 controller.
