Wow, one of the things that I have noticed around here is that people just don't want to beleive that fortunes will rise or fall, that things will always be the same. Well, things will change people.
The PS3 is doing quite good, but they need a price drop ....once they get a price drop (and a SKU that attracts the japanese slimline with BC for example) they will handily beat the 360 each and every week and be close to the Wii.And being inpiratable and reading BD discs this is a very important machine for the games and movie industries. It isnt going anywhere ,no matter how much some people would love to see it crash and burn .

I remember last year, when the 360 had no exclusives left after Halo 3 Off the top of my head, the 360 still has the following exclusives coming up: -Halo 3 Recon -Splinter Cell: Conviction -Alan Wake -Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts -APB: All Points Bulletin -Huxley -Ninja Blade -Lips -You're In The Movies (Those two WILL sell some consoles) -WET -Star Ocean IV -Forza Motorsport 3
And don't remind me of the large list of PS3 exclusives--I know about them, they look great, I'm excited for some of them. I'm not putting them down--I'm just not being an ignorant idiot about this issue. |
I agree with the awesome list, but Wet is not exclusive..
| Groucho said: The PS3, honestly, is not doing badly at all. It has performed really well in the face of a competitor that released a year earlier, and that it has yet to solidly prove that it's "superior" to. I think that alone suggests that the PS3 will likely win based on the Blu-Ray and brandname alone. That doesn't bode well for the future. Eventually the MS stockholders will tell them to pull the plug on their games division. Heck they are probably trying to turn the X360 into a Wii right now, in a desperate ploy for decent returns. |
I'll bite on your foul PS3 exclusive argument. Name 10 games that make 360 fans drool.
I can only name: Heavy Rain, Killzone 2, God of War 3, FF Versus, GT 5, And that open world one where he can shoot lightning*. So thats only 6, not GOOD ENOUGH!
Btw, you shouldn't discount Microsofts ability to find/buy/make significant exclusives. Halo and Gears are both the biggest new I.P shooters both this generation and last. They also haven't announced their 2009 lineup yet because they're more focused on the short term/same year releases.
Also Since Microsoft has made a profit and will probably make a bigger profit this quarter than last don't discount their motivation to continue at what is currently a winning game for them.
Tease.
At half the price 360 struggles to out sale PS3, its plain as day.
Other then Gears they got no massive release left unless Halo4 is announced.

None of those games with the possible exceptions of Star Ocean: The Last Hope and Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts will sell a noticable amount of systems. Halo 3: Recon, Halo Wars and Halo: Chronicles will all sell extremely well, but won't move systems due to the success of Halo 3. This is true for Forza Motorsport 3 and Mass Effect 2 as well. I've never even heard of WET and APB has been indefinitely postponed of the 360. Huxley is vaporware and you're clearly fooling yourself if you think You're in the Movies or Lips will sell consoles. In the end, Microsoft is left banking on new IPs such as Alan Wake and Ninja Blade to keep them competative in weekly sales in with Sony and Nintendo in 2009 and it's almost definitely not going to work with the Wii being what it is and Sony bringing HUGE system selling exclusives such as Gran Turismo 5, God of War III, Killzone 2 and Final Fantasy XIII in Japan.

And you're fooling yourself into thinking that any of those games can single handedly change the tide. They are being beaten soundly again in the US and Other can't even come close to making up for it. FF13 in Japan will be a blip compaired to it's release state side... if the game sells at a good clip on the 360 and PS3 it should easily pass any previous FF game up in first week sales. Killzone 2 is being made by a second rate developer and God of War III isn't going to move to many systems(any more than Gears 2 will anyway). GT5 will move some systems in Europe, but likely will not have much of an effect in the US.
