Forums - Nintendo - Lack of WiiWare reviews

I was wondering today, why are there tons of XBLA and PSN reviews on the net (just check out metacritic), but are there hardly any WiiWare reviews? Gamespot for example never reviews WiiWare games, it's like they refuse to do it. I know Gamespot isn't exactly a credible source but it's just an example.

Please don't make this a troll-fest.

Gamespot was reviewing Wiiware a little while ago, i remember they canned Lost Winds. So they are no longer doing it? But to answer your question as a whole, i really don't know and can't say that i had noticed.

Wii games in general seem to get fewer reviews than other consoles...

To illustrate:

World of Goo: 8 reviews
Bomberman Blast: 6 reviews
Art Style Orbient: 6 reviews
Art Style Cubello: 3 reviews
Art Style Rotohex: 2 reviews

All these games have been released some time ago. There probably won't be many more reviews coming.

To compare:
Braid: 56 reviews
WipEout HD: 47 reviews
Portal: Still Alive: 17 reviews
Age of Booty: 10 reviews

I use utube reviewers, can be lower quality but they still tell you what you need to know.

this is why i dont trust reviews in general, i usually just use ign as they seem to me to review pretty fairly. i dont agree with verything they say but they are certainly helpful

i guess this just hearkens back to most of the reviewers hating the wii. now some of them don't don't even care about them enough to review them.

come try out the computer game i've been working on for my high school senior project, titled sling ball. http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=47568

I'd hate to yell bias, but that's what it is.

The HD crowd is more obsessed with arbitrary scores to justify their purchases to random strangers on the internet then the Wii, PC, or handheld crowd. So review sites and magazines tend to favor ANY game on those systems since they're more likely to drum hits on websites or subscriptions for magazines. We've actually had threads here announcing what time IGN's review will be released for certain games. And every time Little Big Planet or Gears of War 2 gets scored someone makes a new thread about it.

Happy Tree Friends: False Alarm, a completely worthless forgettable game, has 13 reviews on Game Ranking. Ironically, the PC version has only two, one of which is a copy and paste of the 360 review from IGN.
