Forums - Sony - I decided on getting a PS3, now I have a few questions...

Only responding to the online question as I saw you mention UT3.

I play UT3 and I currently have no problems finding people to play with online, plus you will ABSOLUTELY LOVE the fact that you can go to EPIC forum area and download mods and levels.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

1:  Is the PS3 version of Fallout 3 really bad? I wasn't interested in it at first, but after watching some vids of it's gameplay, I thought it looked really cool. What exacly is wrong with the ps3 version? And about how many hours of gameplay does it have?

It's not that bad. It has issues, but it will get patched, and the game is good enough to not really worry about it.

2:  Are there any good exclusive RPG's out right now, or coming to the PS3? I've heard all this talk of JRPG's being made mostly for the 360. My reactions about it are mixed - I love RPG's but I've also never played a single JRPG. I'd like to try one out sometime though - the gameplay on some of them seem really nice.

Some are coming. None are out. If you want great exclusive RPG's, the PS3 is not where to look.

3:  MMORPG's - Do they even exist on consoles at all?

FF XI is on the 360, and can play on the PS3 if you have one that's BC.

4:  This might be an awkward question, but it's a big one for me - When it comes to online play, is PSN poplular? For example, if I was to play somethin like Unreal Tournament 3 online, would I have trouble finding a game to join? I used to play Call of Duty: United Offensive for hours upon hours on my PC. I quit for sometime, then went back to it only to find out that there wasn't many servers to choose from anymore since everyone had moved onto CoD2. Now it's probably worse with CoD4 out, and will probably go near-dead when CoD5. Will I have have this problem when it comes to playing FPS games online? It's something I've been wondering about for a while...

You will never have problems finding people to play with. The only issue is less people have headsets.

5: Install times - they were frustrating in MGS4 when starting a new Act. I thought I'd only have to go through them once. Is there somethin I can do about it?

No. I come from a PC gaming background, so I could care less about install times however.

Buy Valkyria Chronicles if you are looking for an engrossing RPG. Its a strategy RPG that happens to be a JRPG, but the game is shaping up to be phenomenal. IGN gave it either a 9.0 or a 9.1. Obviously playing the game for yourself is your best bet, so there is a demo on the PSN store.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. FWIW, I am a huge UT fanboy -- have been playing it online going all the way back to the original UT in '99. I even wound up buying the Bluetooth Logitech MediaBoard Pro and the nano-USB receiver, 2.4Ghz wireless Logitech mouse. It's a very PC-friendly FPS feel on the PS3 for playing UTIII. That said, even with my undying affection for the UT franchise, I play Warhawk more. It's not a bad deal to purchase the retail package and get the Jabra BT headset bundle. Its a decent headset with a lot of other uses.

Since it was not in your original list, you should give it a look, if you haven't already.

1: No idea, but I think the main bug is the need to log out of PSN when playing Fallout.

2: RPG - Fallout 3, Folklore
JRPG - Eternal Sonata, Valkryia Chronicles, Disgaea 3

3: Agency and Free Realms

4: Well, every single PS3 can get online for free, so it balances out with the 360's higher install base.

5: It's as you say, you only do it once. I really don't mind it.

1:  Fallout 3 on PS3 is pretty bad.  The Xbox 360 and PC versions are good (Ive havent experienced a bug even though I've already beat the 360 version), but PS3 was difficult to code for.  Fallout 3 will probably be fixed eventually though.

2: They are on the way.

3:  Age of Conan and ABP are coming to XBox 360, while PS3 gets The Agency.

4:  Popular games have pleny of players regardless of when it was released.  Unpopular games will be hard to play online later on in its lifecycle.

5: Nope, but I dont think its that bad.

I always assumed that mods didn't work for UT3 on consoles....I decided to check out Epic's forums and there's plenty =0    I wonder how far they can go for it - when I was playing UT04 for PC, I always played with many mods. I'm still dissapointed that the Assault mode was taken out in UT3....I think it would've done it much better than ut04 did.
