I generally refer to people that buy a console for a single game (whatever the game or console) as fanboys...

IMO spoken like a true closed minded console fanboy.

I bought a N64 for Mario64, bought a Snes for Super Mario World, bought 2 DSes for New Super Mario Bros (and still loving it when travelling with my girlfriend) bought a XBox 360 for Kameo, bought a gaming PC for Quake, etc. Apart from the 360 I bought I was never unhappy about buying these consoles for those great games.

I know various people who upgraded their PCs for much more money than a gaming console costed at the time just to play Doom, Half-Life 2 or Crysis properly.

Personally I think it's perfectly fine to do so and is none of your business. They may have a bigger budget than you have or simply think the game in question is that good, worthy of buying a console for. Both Resistance 2 (endless 8 player co-op and 60 player squad battles) and LittleBigPlanet (user created content) can easily provide hundreds of hours of fun entertainment, who do you think you are?

According to you a close minded fanboy.

I bought my PS3 for MGS4 call me a fanboy I couldn't care less I've got one of the greatest games ever made.

Fixed, sorry, pet peeve.

Lmao!!!

To get back on topic, I own a 360 a mac and a pc, my nephew owns a Wii. LBP looks interesting but Sony IMO would have to change the design of their joystick, and lower the price to about 250 USD and come out with L4Dead in order for me to buy a PS3, so in a word, no.

Explain yourself, if you really think this.

Or is it that you just don't have a suitable response?

No, I just don't see the point arguing until I see an I'm sorry from you.

As a self-admitted Nintendo fanboy I'm very interested in seeing what LBP winds up doing. I picked it up this afternoon and had to be pried away from the TV after five or six hours by my wife. LBP is, IMHO, the best game available for the PS3 now, both on its own merits and in its broad, casual appeal.

Not sure any single game can be called a system-seller for the most expensive, 3rd place console, but LBP will give SONY a good boost. This game IS that good.

On the flip side, I'm going to enjoy the irony of seeing the hardcore fanboys explain LBP.. The same group that blindly hammered the Wii for its casual friendly platformers like Galaxy a year ago are all drooling over themselves in the LBP game ranking thread. That amuses me for some reason. :p

The same Wii fanboys that bashed shooters at every opportunity are now drooling over The Conduit. The same 360 fanboys that worshipped Mass Effect and practically swore off Japanese RPGs now love them because the 360 has the most. They are currently drooling over games that would've scoffed at a year ago. I find this all very amusing, actually.

Sweet Post, you just summed up this whole gen perfectly.

LOL, ok I'm sorry if I sounded a little harsh on you.

It was just that I thought you sounded a little intolerant.

FWIW, I woke up this morning (well, this afternoon, really) and walked into the family room to find my wife playing LBP. She had played some of the casual/family games with me and the children on the PS2, but in the year since owning the PS3, today was the first time she'd ever picked up a controller. She loved it, and was bragging about beating some of my high scores from last night. She'd also completely customized her sackgirl.

SONY needs to give MM a big, wet, sloppy smooch and a few bushels of cash to carpet bomb media outlets with LBP. Sackboys and sackgirls are what SONY has needed -- a cute mascot with brand identity. They need to go viral like Rabbids; they need to play-up the customization capabilities like Miis. At least I hope so ... I want a sackboy plushie. Give'em accessories like Mr. Potato Heads.
