Forums - Nintendo - Quick question about Zack & Wiki...

There is a music-based minigame which is largely optional, and some puzzles have audio cues which might help you solve them. You can probably play most of the game without sound, but if you find yourself getting stuck, you might want to put the DVD on pause for a few minutes.

Not trying to insult you but do you really have the attention span of a gnat? What happens when you have to do something like read a book?

And while I don't think there are any sound based puzzles, I still couldn't imagine playing this game and watching a movie because while early puzzles are simply but later ones will really have you thinking.

Not trying to insult me? Well, you're doing a good job of hiding it.

Hardly. If I had the attention span of a gnat, I would quit right away. As I said, I'm a multitasker. I do lots of things at once, but I devote attention to several at once as well. Might be hard to get around since a lot of people have a hard time multitasking seriously, but I'm just made that way. It's nothing I can just turn on or off. When I read a book, if said book is really good, I can get really into it. But I mostly just read books when I'm on my way somewhere, on the bus or such, since I rarely feel like restritcing myself to just reading when I have other options.

I realize you couldn't imagine playing this game and watching a movie at the same time, but could you atleast open your mind to the possibility that others could? Seriously, could you be any more closed-minded? :x

Chill, as I said I meant no harm.  I just think it's odd you can't enjoy a game without some other distractoin to keep you occupied.  That right there hints you don't have any type of attention span.  Not trying to be mean, just asking.

Sorry if I'm blunt, I just don't like beating around the bush.  I happen to just find it interesting that you can't play a game without another distractoin.

Oh, I can. I just prefer not to when I have the option. Which is why I asked if I needed sound. In games where spoken dialogue is important cutscenes are prominent, I don't watch thing at the same time(Like with Disaster, which I've been playing a lot recently).

I don't think it says anything about my attention span when I stay with it... I think it'd say something about my attention span if I kept quitting games or such because they either had too much cutscenes or such, or because well, I had no attention span in which case I'd just quit it after 10 mins and do something else. I don't see how focusing on several things at once affects my attention span, or supposed lack thereof.

Having an attention span would be being able to focus on something for some amount of time.  Having distractoins to keep you interested doesn't mean you're an awesome multitasker or have an awesome attention span.  It just usually means you need some sort of distraction.  That could be no attention span or it could just be you need the distraction.

Hell, even I like to have distractions when I do some things.  When I use to program at home I loved having a movie playing because it helped me stay focused.   When I'm at work I usually keep a browser window open because when I find myself drifting off I can look at something for a minute or two and then get back to work.

Considering I can very well play without it for extended amounts of times, I severely doubt it leads to me having a bad attention span. It just feels better, when available (if the game isn't one of my absolute favorites, in which case I never watch anything while playing it)
