I find this scene pretty funny.  If anyone prefer to see that Japanese version of the scene, I will post it.

That scene's great, it's a great way to start an excellent JRPG, but the japanese voices make this scene (and in fact all the game) a lot better, Fayt's voice in the Japanese dub is simply amazing.

This +1, sept in my honest opinion Till the end of times English was far better... then again i dont understand japanese so there could be some biased to it so...

Well, I admit I didn't see much of the game with English VA, only a few cutscenes, on the flipside, I played the entire game with japanese voices (and it was even before I started studying japanese) and I found all of them simply perfect, one of the best game dubs I've seen (or rather, heard). If you say that the English dub is good, though, I suppose I should take your word since you played all the game with it

Yeah i did, many of times (Great game imo) but there were a few characters in the game in the english dub that sounds utterly terrble, of course they were only "Side-Characters" but still.

If i remember correctly, it was the two girls that worked under Nel, Tynave and Farleen if im not mistaken, those are the ones that stood out the most for me in the English dub as being the worst of the worst.

Of course there was alot more, but atleast pretty much the entire main cast had solid english voice acting, come to think of it though, i think the final boss (Luther was it?) had a terrble english voice to, sounded like a freaking sephiroth wannabe with a cold or somethin.

All in all in wasnt perfect but it was great, if i understood japanese like you i'd give the J version a go, but since i dont... lol gotta learn that language some day.

Eh, it's not that funny. More dumb than funny, imo.

Yup, I started less than a year ago and I don't regret it, it's an amazing language, not too hard to understand spoken, increidibly hard to understand written, but it's a fantastic one, everything sound great said in japanese. Maybe that's why I think the JP dubs are better

Well, with written you have not only to memorize the hiragana and katakana alphabets (46 chars each), which it's pretty easy, but all the kanjis (2000), until you do you won't be able to read much real japanese. On the other hand, the japanese pronunciation is much more strict than english (in a way it's like spanish-my mother language-, there's only one way to read a word, you can't just not know how a word is pronounced), so it's pretty easy to get what the speaker is saying if you know some words (for example, when I know a word, like watashi (me), I can always recognize it in an anime when it's said)

Ugh... my head... i think i understood, still though i guess from what your saying as long as any game/anime is japanese dubbed you'd be able to understand it better then if it were japanese subbed?

Well, overall i'd say that the better of the two to understand in the end, after all speaking is more important then writting to a large extent when it comes to learning a new language.

Anyways, i actually do have a cold lol, ima go take a nap or somethin take it easy dude. try and help fill this thread with more rpg humour, i didnt realize how weird/funny certain RPG's could be lol!

Awesome, lol!

The some of the side characters, for example, the purple haired girl, sound very annoying.  However, the main characters' VAs, for the most part, are quite solid.  Even so, the English VA doesn't compare to the top notch japanese VA of the game.
