Forums - Nintendo - Forever Blue (Endless Ocean) - scores (35/40) in Famitsu

With the Hot Shots Golf announcement, was surprised the rest of the scores were not mentioned...

From http://the-magicbox.com/gaming.htm

- Here are the latest Japanese game review scores:

  • Minna no Golf 5 [HotShot Golf 5] (PS3, Sony): 9, 9, 9, 8 - (36/40)
  • Harry Potter to Fushichou no Kishidan (Wii, EA): 4, 6, 5, 5 - (20/40)
  • Forever Blue [Endless Ocean] (Wii, Nintendo): 10, 8, 9, 8 - (35/40)
  • J-League Winning Eleven 2007 Club Championship (PS2, Konami): 8, 9, 9, 8 - (34/40)
  • Remy no Oishii Restaurant [Ratatouille] (PS2, THQ): 5, 6, 6, 6 - (23/40)
  • Remy no Oishii Restaurant [Ratatouille] (NDS, THQ): 5, 6, 6, 5 - (22/40)
  • Konchuu Wars (NDS, Success): 7, 7, 7, 7 - (28/40)
  • Slide Adventure: Mag Kid (NDS, Nintendo): 7, 7, 7, 8 - (29/40)
  • Zettai Onkan Master (NDS, Hudson): 8, 7, 8, 8 - (31/40)

Only 1 point behind HSG, 35/40 is also a very good score. And interestingly - one of the reviewers gave it a 10/10 - the only perfect mark for the week.

Does this also come out next week? I hope it makes a real splash (pun intended!)

...

ALERT!!! There is a mistake in the HSG score above. No idea if the mistake came from MagicBox, or somewhere else.

But 9,9,9,8 = 35 (not 36). Same score as Forever Blue.

(can anyone find another source to verify this??)

i said this before, i'm gonna say it again. I don't trust famitsu scores at all. I'm not saying either of these games are bad or good, i have no idea but i'm not judging by famitsu scores.
Gundam: Crossfire got 32, that should tell you something.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

*throws up*

Yeah, I don't necessarily trust Famitsu either, but they have a pretty decent influence over the Japanese public.

Consoles I Own: NES, SNES, N64, GC, GBA, DS, X360, Wii

One is a casual-ish golf game and the other is a scuba diving sim....

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

I have to say, for the most part, Famitsu is pretty dead-on with their ratings, particularly scores of 35+. They know their stuff.

PS3: 5.51m/51w, avg 108,039/w (up 239)

I agree with Ck. Lumping every casual game in to the same genre of "casual" isn't going to work anymore, especially as the gaming space and development explodes in that area. In a few years, lumping all these games in to a single "casual" genre won't be much siller than making a single "hardcore" genre, then listing Sims, Card Games, Brain Games, Cooking Games, Surgery Games (Trauma Center is good, by the way) etc. as distinct genres.

Also, didn't we just get done with a HSG5 thread where everyone proclaimed that Famitsu doesn't know what it's talking about? Why do I see no complaints, and even a few compliments in this thread? Bias I say!

I personally love the idea of Forever Blue. If it's anything like the Afrika concepts, I will be all over this.

I was implying that HSG doesn't go into what is the new casual games category which is the 'barely a game' category...

Also, take what you said at the end and replace love with hate and add 'I hope Nintendo takes Afrika off the hands of Sony so they don't waste their time on making a safari sim...' and you'll have my opinion.

Check my post in that thread ;). I backed Famitsu all the way. I love the idea of getting 4 different people to review something, then add their scores. Anything that scores above 90% must be half-decent.
