Kotaku: Rumor: $50 price cut for 360 in August?

It wont matter, its not much of a drop, but a very slight increase is possible.

That thread is a jumbled mess of people unsure if they are talking about the price of Madden itself or the price of the 360.  I saw it, and posted this one that clearly state that the price of the 360 is rumored to be dropping instead of trying to work through the confusion over there.

Does this mean that the price is ONLY dropping on the Core model by $50? If it is I believe it would be a mistake. They need to drop it to price points of 199, 299, and 399. That's just my opinion.

Guy calls around to a bunch of Wal-Marts.  The article is kinda funny, but all the way the bottom he gets an email, confirming it, kinda.

I think the price cut is real and it'll be $50US and $100Can (because of the rise of the Canadian dollar). I also think this will put a lot of pressure on Sony and force them to price cut the 80gig PS3 after the 60gig ones are gone.

As I posted elsewhere, rumour has it in Portuguese forums that the drop will be 100 € there, on the 1st of August (Wednesday). It would be awesome if it was the case in all Europe, due to the big currency difference.
