Forums - Sony - Hot Shots Golf 5 Gets Four 9's From Famitsu

It looks like Clap Hanz has done it again. Though not as popular in the United States then in the Land of the Rising Sun, the Hot Shots Golf series has always delivered a solid golf experience. The game has received the highest overall score in this month's Famitsu magazine. Grab your bags and hit the links, offline or with a friend online!

This game doesnt interest me much. But any good ps3 news is good.

famitsu scores are never a good indicator of a good game. Seriously they give out high scores to so many mediocre games. I'm not saying this game is bad, i'm just reserving judgement.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Not bashing Hot Shots Golf, but is Famitsu good for anything other than leaking info on new upcomming games?

famitsu is good for news, sales, basically everything EXCEPT for reviews.

This is good news for Sony. Hope this game is as good as Famitsu believes. Let's see more reviews, and start getting an aggregate total! When does this release in the US, by the way?

Anyone have some examples of highly reviewed Famitsu games that sucked to everyone else? Just curious since some are completely dismissing them...Last I checked they were the #1 Japanese magazine, comparable to EGM (I believe?).

I stopped listing to their reviews after Nintendogs got four 10's =/

This looks like it plays just like every other version of HotShots. In fact it pretty much looks like the pervious HotShots just with better graphics and creepy realistic looking anime characters.

Don't get me wrong, I love the anime style golf games, Infact Hotshots is the only game I own for my PSP. But I never understood why on earth people made this game out to be so much better then Mario Golf or PangYa. They all play exactly the same. At least PangYa on the PC lets you interact with other people in a MMO environment.

Currently playing:
Wii: MySims | Xbox360: Halo3 / Pac-Man C.E | DS: Scurge | PSP: Ghost in the Shell

Not to be unfair, but given that Nintendogs is almost certainly on its way to being the best selling non-bundled game of all time, I'm not sure that their reviews were inappropriate. Not your cup of tea, perhaps, but clearly a lot of people like that game. A whole lot of people.

I'll be getting it when it hits the US. I haven't played HSG since 2, but I just got it off the PSN and it's as much fun as I remember.
