I thought the article would have some good points - but it doesn't.
Waggle is NOT a failure - like all new techs, it got implemented badly in some software. In other software (where it is appropriate), it is fantastic.
Playing WarioLand:Shake now - and it is excellent. Although its "just" a 2D platformer, to me it feels completely different from the other platformers I have played - primarily because of the Shake/Waggle aspect. It is very well implemented.
WiiSports is single-handedly responsible for the success of the Wii - and the Wiimote lies at the centre of that. Its not about perfect 1:1 control - and never was. Its about how motion can be used successfully in a video game, and how this gets people interested in games that were never interested before. The same applies to WiiFit.
And this is why - overall - the Wii has been a raging success. After all - launching a year after the 360, in just two years it has outsold the 360 + PS3 combined (approx) - without a single price cut, new SKU, new colour, etc.

As usual, the hardcores feel "cheated" and like to justify themselves. Motion + will represent a type of "relaunch" for the Wii - you can be sure that most of the "hardcore" games coming for it, will use it in some form.
Then, maybe it will get some of its "hardcore" cred back - and a couple of years later, we might see the promise of the Wii HD...
