Im a Hindu too, though im absolutely not religious, and i approve of the cow-killing.

Fun Fact: Ages ago, cows were eaten in India. Cows were made sacred to save them form a possible wipe-out.

No thats false.

One of our Gods was very fond of cows & also as we supposedly believe in seven lives the Cos is a sacred rebirth....so killing it could mean killing a sacred person who has been reborn as a cow.

I can sense that youre a religious person, thus i wont engage you in a discussion regarding this. There are , in the ancient scriptures, mentions of kings feasting on cow.(sorry but i dont have the links)

no no I am nowhere near very religious....I have a few small beliefs in the religion just because my whole family otherwise is very religious.

I even eat beef.....

I am just telling you what I have heard as the "reason" from many elder people.

And if you apply cold logic, which story seems more likely?
Remember, rural India is highly dependent on the cow(breeding, milking etc).
In India, making something sacred is the easiest way to protect it.
