I think your logic might be a little flawed there in your Mario Kart analogy.

I heard that Resistance only sold a million, the rest were bundled, so it's difficult to tell how many people liked the game or just wanted a free game with the console. I agree with your sales, but I think R2 will sell faster(1st week-1 month) than AC, but AC will have legs. Also, you say R2 is very gory, does that mean it will be banned in Germany & Japan like Gears of War 2? I think the people that are calling Gear 1.5 are PS fanboys because nobody is saying R1.5 since they were both released at the same time and I haven't heard anything new about it.

Generally speaking, the Gears 1.5 is a marginalization was invented by PS fanboys after IGN named Gears 2 the best technical graphics at E3, over Killzone 2. It's a reference to the graphics.

Nobody calles Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil 4.5. Trust me, it's a fanboy thing. No legitimate source with any credibility called Gears 2, Gears 1.5. All previews have been fantastic.

....which would make this statment in the OP:

The game is being labelled Gears of War 1.5 in some places.

Either ignorance or fanboyism, by definition.

Oh for God's sake, 2/3 of the sales of Resistance were not bundles, someone get out the math again. God damn it where does this rumor keeping sprouting up from?

Resistance 2 should be able to outsell its predecessor, but I can see its legs being cut off by Killzone 2 (if it turns out great).

My order would be the same, for now: Gears2 > AC > R2. Gears > R2 is definite, though AC is more of a wildcard, it's hard to tell.

So arguably these are the biggest offerings from the big three this holiday.  Sure, there are other titles, but let's keep things simple.

Resistance 2

Pros

Very good word of mouth, both from the beta and from pretty much everyone that has played the game.

Supposedly huge scope, encompassing single player, co-op, and multiplayer online.

Significant visual improvement over the first game (which I personally never had a problem with, but still).

Insomniac

Cons

The gore.  This is just my opinion, and I haven't seen it myself, but I think this could work against the game.  It is supposed to be rated 18 in the UK, and other countries could follow suit.  The first game wasn't very gory, so why change things?  Could put off some users, and mean lost sales.

Summary

The first game sold over 3 milliion, which is pretty stellar for a new IP on brand new hardware.  There is more competition out there now, but even so, I expect this game to outsell the first by a significant amount.

Gears of War 2

Pros

The first game was very highly praised and seems to have satisfied the majority of players.

Probably now the second biggest franchise on the 360 (?).

Not much competition in regard to third person shooters.

Supposedly bigger, badder, better etc.

Cons

No beta or demo? 

I have the impression it's not getting quite as much attention as it would like.  Cliffy B says this, Cliffy B does that?  Who gives a rat's ass?

The game is being labelled Gears of War 1.5 in some places.  Maybe it is justified, maybe not.  Even so, can't be seen as a 'pro'.

Not being sold in Japan or Germany. 

Summary

The first game sold over 5 million, which is stellar really.  However, again, now things have changed quite a bit.  The sequel should still be huge, particularly in the US, but just how well is it going to fare elsewhere?

Animal Crossing

Rather a different genre, but a big hitter none the less.  Wii Music seems to be a curse word around here, so...

Pros

Tied in with some new hardware.  Usually works well for Nintendo.

Quite frankly, not a whole lot of competition.

Previous versions have been big in Japan and the US.

The DS game was massive.

Cons

The DS game was massive.  In other words, the last game was on a handheld, so the jump back to a console may not be so well received.

Is this really what Wii owners are asking for right now?

Does not have the words, 'Wii', or, 'Mario', in the title.

Summary

Past games have been very big, but the jump back to a console may work against this.  The DS version outsold the GC version by more than double.

Which will sell the most?

They are all going to be huge.  I think R2 is going to do very well, better than the first game.  If Gears 2 can exite the US crowd like the first one did, then I think it is going to come out on top.  There's no guarantee though.  Animal Crossing should be massive, but there's an element of doubt there too.  So:

Stopped reading the thread when I saw Gears 1.5 if you cant get the title right not worth an aswer.  And the only people calling it Gears 1.5 are tjhe PS3 owners who wont be getting it..

 



PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

It's also an extension of Xbox 360 bashing from the end of last gen. When the 360 launched at the beginning of this generation, a lot of fanboys harped on the launch games saying that they weren't enough of a graphical improvement over the last gen, and so they started calling it the "Xbox 1.5" This persisted pretty much up until Gears of War came out.

A little ironic.

also remember now there is many good games, even COD WAW will have better sales compare to resistance 0.xx, Resistance 1, have rather god sales, because there is no game at that time.
