Forums - Gaming - What 3rd party titles for Wii are you honestly excited about?

And what will they sell?

3rd party support is definately moving in the right direction for the little white box but I find myself struggling to pick out potential buys from the constantly growing list.

My picks:

No More Heroes - Everyting I want to see in a Wii game: style, origionality, ambition and a decent budget. I think sales will hit around 1.25 million due to the wests love of sandbox games and the fact that the dev is Japanese should help it sell in N's back yard. Out of any 3rd party game I'd like to see this game succeed the most, assuming of course it lives up to expectations.

Tiger Woods '08' - I love Wii Golf but was bitterly disappointed in Tiger '07' It had PS2 visuals and was jerky to boot. It also had a less than intuitive swing mechanic. Hopefully EA has had adequate time to push Wii's hardware a bit further and make the gameplay more like Wii Golf or at least better than it's previous installment. If EA nails it I think 750K should be achievable.

Bully - Never owned a PS2 so look forward to taking this game for a spin. I will be interested to see how much effort Rockstar puts in as it could provide an indication of their longer term outlook on Wii. Sales of 500K if it's lucky, Godfather and Scarface both struggled despite being reasonable wiimake, sandbox offerings.

So after an avalanche of recent 3rd party announcements I'm left with 3 which I'm pretty sure I'll really consider buying on release. FFCC and Nitrobike intrigue me but I don't yet know enough about them to form a proper opinion. Maybe I've overlooked a couple of others, I hope so.

Over to you guys.

EDIT: Another that somebody below reminded me of is Zack & Wiki, this is another game, like NMH, that I'd like to see do well as it exhibits characteristics of a Wii game I'd like to see more of, namely building games around the wiimote and not vice versa. I'm hoping it'll sell 1 million but fear it could be ovelooked due to a stupidly elaborate name.

No More Heroes

RE: Umbrella Chronicles
FF:CC
Manhunt 2

Had interest in Elebits and Trauma Center, but delaying PAL release by over 6 months killed my interest. Considering DQS, Dewy's Adventure and Dragon Blade if they turn out surprisingly good and come out before 2011.

Not too bad for the first year of the Gamecube's successor. Can't wait to see what we get next year if attracting third parties has gone even half as good as I hope.

Nights >0.7m , Resident Evil UC >0.7m , Mario and Sonic at the Olympics > 1.5m , Soul Calibur Legends > 0.5m, Tales of Symphonia 2 >1m, Trauma Center 2 > 0.5m, Manhunt 2 > 0.3m, Bully >0.3m, Rockstar Table Tennis >0.1m ... Just these :)

No sales predictions guys?

Hmm, I considered M&S but thought it was more of a collaboration between Sega and Nintendo much like F-Zero GX so deemed it not to be 3rd party. It is a game I'm keeping an eye on.

I was pretty interested in Zack & Wiki:Quest for Barbaros' Treasure because I thought it looked like an interesting take on the old Lucasarts/Sierra On-Line point and click adventures but after hearing about some of the puzzles my interest has been severely dampened.

*Warning: game spoiler ahead.*

For example here is one of the "puzzles":

"At one point Zack and Charlie need ot cross a chasm. The solution quickly presents itself in the form of a tree that's been partially hacked. Tipping it over will create a makeshift bridge. When Zack approaches the weakened tree, an on-screen prompt appears in the top-right corner of the game screen: a little bald man holding a Wii remote. This signals to the player that a specific motion must be made with the Wii controller. In this case, the obviously solution is to push the remote back and forth to simulate shoving the tree over."

"The obvious, in this case, does not work, but it does serve to push players in the right direction. The shaking awakens a sleeping centipede, which then pops out from the tree to menace both Zack and his monkey pal. Using the monkey's magical transmutation abilities, it's possible to turn Charlie into a real bell that Zack can shake to transform other items. Here, after the player shakes the remote vigorously, the centipede becomes a centisaw."

"Now the players have the correct tool for the job, the game requires players to discover how to use it correctly. Holding the Wii remote like a real saw and pushing and pulling it back and forth will do the job just nicely; Zack uses the centisaw to slice the tree and create his bridge."

To me that puzzle doesn't really make much sense, at least not like the ones in the old Lucasarts/Sierra On-Line games. It seems more like a person will just try everything until they stumble on the solution (something I hate).

Other than that game there are no third party games which interest me at all on the Wii (which is great because it makes it so I don't have the urge to go out and buy one and have it sit for months on end not being played).
