Forums - Website Topics - Google Chrome thinks vgchartz.com contains malware

About 1 in 10 times I visit vgchartz.com  using Google Chrome (since about a week ago), the "This site may harm your computer" warning comes up which says that the page contains elements from emu-russia.km.ru and that I shouldn't visit it. It links to this page with details of how emu-russia.km.ru contains malware:

http://safebrowsing.clients.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=http://emu-russia.km.ru/

While I know this isn't intentional on the part of vgchartz.com, is there any chance that visiting this site has a risk of downloading malware to Windows?

Dunno. I've been visiting this website forever in Firefox and never gotten anything malicious from it.

Of course, if you use a poor browser in the first place then there are no guarantees about your net surfing safety.

Yeah, what WoW said. Google Chrome is an incomplete mess of bugs and issues. I have no idea why anyone would use such a young browser. Stick with Firefox. Maybe in a year or 2, Chrome will be acceptable.

you should all use Opera its the best browser

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!

bet with *no one yet* that the combined first week of Monster Hunter 3 in america and europe will be 600k or more! winner changes looser sig and avatar for two months!

I use Chrome and it's not the only browser that thinks this site contains malware...
IE thinks the same, it just doesn't happen all the time which makes me think it's one of the random add.

There are some unsafe adds in the mess of adds being referenced I believe.
There already have been people who were infected from this site and had to clean their HDD....

So yes, until recently there was a chance you would get malware installed on your PC. I haven't had any browser alert in the last few weeks though........

Please refer to the following before telling people Vgchartz is totally safe :

Well, if you're going to listen what IE tells you...

Anyway, I think that if you use Firefox, you shouldn't have a problem, I mean, I enter this site everyday with FF and I've got a totally clean PC

I suppose I have to agree with that. Chrome is shinier, faster and more minimalist than Firefox, but security and stability are higher concerns.

If it comes out on Linux, though, Linux is better designed to handle insecure or unstable applications so it might be OK.

That makes sense. Ever since I first came here, it seems like vgchartz.com has taken over my computer.
