But this isnt just one game, LBP,killzone,mgs4(a system seller),uncharted, heavenlysword, ratchet, lair, and unreal tournament(systemseller) are all going to factor on the sales of the ps3,early next year lbp a "new" game that if brought to the world correctly as I stated before can sell consoles. Especially to the feminine and younger audience this game will apeal to. Folklore as well can help boost ps3 sales in the states with the console priced at $499.99, and with people willing to get those great games I wouldnt be suprised if 360 owners themselves purchase a ps3.

I know PS2 fans love this list but just look at it for a minute:

  • Little Big Planet: potentially a very good and interesting game but it won't sell. Most of the PS3's userbase has a built in dislike for anything that could be considered cute or childish. Much like how the XBox 360's userbase reacted to Viva Pinata, this game will be an obscure title that only a handful of gamers ever play.
  • Killzone 2: The sequel to a game that was endlessly hyped as a "Halo Killer" that eventually turned out to be an average and horribly flawed game. Killzone never sold particularly well and outside of Sony fans few people even care about this series.
  • Metal Gear Solid 4: I wouldn't count on this game until the second half of 2008.
  • Ratchet and Clank: I could be wrong, but I suspect that the vast majority of Ratchet games were sold to the more "typical" gamer on the PS2; essentially a group of people who will not spend $500 to play any game.
  • Lair: I'm calling it now, Lair is going to bomb and there is going to be a lot of mocking on these message boards. Factor 5's best game was Star Wars Rogue Squadren 2: Rogue Leader for the Gamecube; it had amazing graphics, was the best launch game available, had an amazingly popular licence (potentially at the peak of its popularity with all of the prequel hype), and was on a $200 system and yet it really didn't sell at amazing levels. Lair has the nice graphics but it won't stand out in the line-up like Rogue Leader did, it doesn't have the huge licence, and it isn't on an inexpensive system.
  • Heavenly Sword: Another game that will bomb. Essentially "God of war as a girl" but God of War really isn't that popular of a game; it sold just over 1 Million copies on the most popular console of all time, a console that every gamer either had or could easily afford.
  • Unreal Tournament: This game will sell a lot of hardware ... For the PC; I expect that high end graphics cards will sell well, and pre-packaged SLi systems will move at an amazing rate. Most serious online FPS players will choose to play this game on their PC.

You know what, I am willing to bet right now Im even going to tell a mod to list this, Little big planet will sell better than viva pinata if not double of wat pinata has sold. You dont see the hype sony fans even xbox fans see in this, people are willing to buy a ps3 just for this game. The first killzone sucked becuase the background sound was horrific. And that was fixed with the secound one. Ask anyone that has killzone, the graphcis were terrible and the sound was horrific but the story had huge potential.Killzone 2 compared to the first one is like comparing cod on psp and cod4 on 360. Unreal tournament will sell better on ps3 than on pc and that is very likely. God of war won several GOY awards, and heavenly sword wont bomb. Lair might bomb but heavenly sword wont bomb.

So you're saying LBP will sell at least 500k copies?

If it doesn't sell a whole lot more than that there is no way that it's going to be a huge system seller. Your prediction isn't exactly very daring.

LittleBigPlanet has gotten 3 nominations in the Game Critic Awards, the official E3 awards for:

Best Original Game, Best Social/Casual/Puzzle Game, Best Online Multiplayer Game (yes in a category otherwise only including almost shooters lol)

That's 3 nominations which puts it with the other most nominated games from the show:

Rock Band- 5 nominations
Call of Duty 4- 4 nominations
Fallout 3/Mass Effect/LBP- 3 nominations

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

LBP will sale millions easy.

After release they plan lots of download content and to support the online community. its gonna have a very long sheal life.

LBP/home mix will show how far advanced PS3 gaming is compared to its competition.

I do think LBP will be cool, but I fear the internet in that there will be people making levels composed of penis cars trying to ram you. Especially since you can load an unlimited number of decals and make your own objects.

Of course, judgment is reserved until I've actually... played the game, but with no set release date yet (?), I'll wait until next year to get excited. Who knows, by the time it comes out, PS3 may have a 6 million user base and surprise some people.

And now, time for the most cynical response I can muster: So, it's another puzzle game, but the developers are even too lazy to make more puzzles, and instead let you make it. How well do you think that Fighter Maker or RPG maker games sold on the ps2? A prettier incomplete game is still an incomplete game.

Extra Cynicism: Also, didn't Elebits do this last December? But at least have it not as the main portion of the game? Hooray for originality!

Alright, that's enough cynicism. Hopefully the game pans out, like Civilization, and doesn't Spore or Daikatana on us, sound amazing but just never come out or fails to deliver something fun.

See Ya George.

It will be monitored, you want to upload it has to be cleards before it goes up.  Those that do sick shiet will be banned.

summer 2008.

There will be levels, full blu ray disk of them.  Many of SCE deves want to create levels for it.

You will sove puzzles, play it as a platformer, have races with check points well i guess they are more of a rally then.  Play online up to 8 player.  And the devs have hinted at a story, but they are keepig quiet on that.

Is there an actual point to this game yet or is it just a bunch of running around?

And I don't think the cloth simulation is really the game's main selling point. :p

Think platformer.

Yahh i think its creativity and cuteness is its best selling point, i shure as hell never said cloth simulation is that. But the realism of all the objects is.

The selling point of this game has nothing to do with object realism. Its all about the versatility of a sandbox setup.  This game is very innovative, and it is one of the few PS3 games on my very short list of reasons to get a PS3 (the PS3 list is being weighed against the 360 list).

As far as how it would do on the Wii? It would most certainly sell more on the Wii, for a number of reasons. First larger install base, and second it goes with their demographic much better.  With that said, how well it would of sold on the Wii is pretty irrelavent since...ya know..its not on the Wii.

It is going to be a good game if they can deliver on their E3 showings, that you can be sure of.

To Each Man, Responsibility

I have heard that other Sony developers want to make LBP levels and have a hand in that game too... the possibilities could be quite awesome.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

LBP (and PS Eye) sounds like fun. When the PS3 hits $200 I might get one.

I like quirky fun and I like the idea of LBP, but I won't buy it. It's that un-fun Sony quirky. Same with Echochrome. They try to be too sophisticated. Sony makes some great games, but quirky doesn't always equal fun.

As you probably know I am a Wii fan, this goes for Cooking Mama for Wii, Mario Party 8, and others too. I'll say it again. I like quirky fun. The noun is FUN, and the adjective is quirky. Also I don't want play quirky games on my PS3, I bought the PS3 to be a graphical powerhouse.

I am not saying that other will feel this way, it is just how I feel.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

From the first time we saw LBP, I thought it was big (we don't really know much more then we did then, but I hope that they've put a lot of depth into it).

I think it's great, and probably deserving of most of the awards it recieved on these numerous game sites

However, I don't think it, or it's sales, will be enough to bring the PS3 back.. think about how many awards Ocarina of Time has gotten (and is still getting), and compare that to the influence it had to the N64's situation
