It's a very good game, it sold well, it looks like it didn't move consoles (in any significant way anyway) so there we have it.
Time to look to the next big releases with regard to driving additional console sales.

Why do you have to look at console sales during the same week the game was released to determine if it was a console seller? I bought my 360 for Halo 3 a month before the game came out, just right after the price cut.
Fable 2 - 1,006,706 according to ioi. First week between NA and PAL markets.

And he seemed so sure. Even the guys on that GameTrailers show thought Fable 2 was gonna get lost in the shuffle. Fooled everybody but us.

lol, everybody but people who owned a 360 and loved Fable. Ownage has been dished out hard by me the last few days since these reviews and sales have rolled in, check my wall and the peoples wall who've posted there.

Fable 2 has kicked ass software wise.
It also appears to have been responsible for a hardware boost of around 10%.

The game kicked ass in reviews and software. It exceeded expectations in all areas that it had control over. I'm sure the hardware boost has been happening since the game was announced.

Exactly this. I bought mine a few weeks after.
There is really no good way to tell the effect of certain games on console sales, especially now with the holidays upon us, and in the wake of the 306 price drop.
Also congrats to Fable 2 for 1M first week. This game is amazing.

It's impossible to ever tell how many consoles a game sells. Afterall what is the counterfactual? What would have sales been had the game not been released?
Not to mention that sales comparisons are clouded by all the other things happening in the market at any given time.
