Forums - Gaming - Two New MGS Products Being Announced Tonight?

From Kotaku:

" Tomorrow, I'm making a day trip up to Tokyo for the Metal Gear Solid 20th Anniversary party.

"What to expect? Metal Gear Solid 4 online getting its world debut, an on-stage MGS4 play through with series creator Hideo Kojima and two new MGS products being unveiled."

Should be interesting!

Hmmm, I am guessing one for a handheld, and one for one of the consoles. I don't think it will be for Wii, and it could be a cross-platform game. My guess would be an exclusive though because that is how Kojima usually rolls. I'm leaning towards some announcement for the 360.

Edit:  It could also be the 20th anniversary MGS stuff in disguise being announced for America.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Generalization with the word product make me question these being game announcements.

To cash in my CC rewards points for $300 in Circuit City gift cards to purchase a 360 or not: That is the question.

Ehh some toy and special edition MGS4 probably.

I wouldn't rule out the wii. Kojima himself has stated he would like to 'run away' from MGS4 production and do something

on the wii.

I would like to see a DS port of MGS1, and a PSP port of MGS2.

Yes, I am saying the PSP should have a port of a PS2 game. It's not that it has ports; it's that there are few ports that gamers would really want. The few that are, sell extremely well (Monster Hunter 1 and 2 being the first million selling PSP games in Japan).

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

I wouldn't get my hopes up for anything special. I think AllAll has the general idea of what is likely to be announced.

I think expansion pack for MGS:PO will be definitely one of new products.

US, July 17, 2007 - A new version of Metal Gear Solid is on the way to the PSP... sorta. As part of Sony's PlayStation Premiere event today in Tokyo, Konami announced Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops +, an expansion to last year's Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops.

The new version of the game is focused on online play, with new stages and characters. However, Konami is also adding a mysterious new single player mode, Infinity Mission.

In Japan, this update will be released in two forms, on its own for 2,400 yen, and bundled with the original MPO as part of a 4,300 yen Deluxe Pack.

Take a look at first screens in the media section below. MPO+ is set for Japanese release on 9/20. -

It's possible it could be Portable Ops Plus and the Metal Gear Solid online project for the PS3. I know both of those are heavily rumored, obviously-happening-whether-Konami-announces-publicly-or-not, but it would make sense to celebrate these two officially. Just a guess: given that there are already three MGS related projects in the works that we know of (4, Ops Plus, and this online doo hicky), more announcements just seems... unlikely to me.

Oh oh oh...I know.

MGS4 No Waggle Edition for XBOX 360.
MGS4 Extreme Waggle Edition for Wii.

So money.
