Forums - Nintendo - The official NTDOY/Nintendo discussion thread

I have noticed the low volume too FJ.  For a mega cap, Nintendo has a lot of shares that are just not traded.  I guess this lets a few traders can push the price around on very low volume, while the big investors wait for the console war to play out over the holiday.  Too bad Nintendo did not manage to boost Wii production to 4M a month.  Maybe they have 2M or so in reserve for the next four weeks?

The urge to play is a terrible thing to waste.

Man. NTDOY is taking such a beating. You'd think things would look better during the holiday season >_>;

It's the dollar getting crushed.

Crazy day in Japan. First we're down 4% now we're up 4%.

I think we are going to get murdered tonight in Japan. The dollar sunk like a stone, down to 108.49.

Hard to say where Nintendo will land. The low trading volume combined with the US markets being closed could result in anything happening. The dollar was weaker in 2004, but not by much. Have a good holiday.

I guess you're right. I was expecting to get slammed today, but we're up 500 after open. I was kinda hoping to pick up more shares in the low 60s.

I don't know. When the dollar vs Yen dropped to 108 from 111, a few days ago, NTDOY went up 2%(and there was not a 2% increase on 7974). I can only think of one thing: weak dollar is good for NTDOY. It may not be good for 7974, but it is good for NTDOY.

I mean I was hoping to pick up some NTDOY at low 60, but when 7974 dropped, NTDOY did not drop because the yen gets stronger.

Maybe Nintendo has done something internally to eliminate its currency risk. Thus, now the weaker dollar is better for NTDOY.

The quarterly report said that Nintendo does hedge the dollar dropping but was not specific as to how and how much. Also I saw a report that said that the bulk of Nintendo's earnings still comes from Japan. I could be that 7974 is just moving with the rest of the Japanese stock market.
