Forums - Nintendo - The official NTDOY/Nintendo discussion thread

Funny you should mention Apple because Apple and Nintendo are the only two stocks I bought this April/May. I bought Apple at 91 Nintendo at 40. As of August 24th, Apple is 135 and Nintendo is 59.65....So far my return on Nintendo is slightly ahead of Apple.

It's a tight race, they both are going up like crazy. Apple was at 148 a few weeks ago....and Nintendo is starting to take the lead!!!!

I am planning to sell Apple in 10 years or when it hits $10,000 per share. I am betting on Nintendo for short term (5 years) but I am betting on Apple for long term. Apple is getting value from both Microsoft and all cellular phone companies, while Nintendo is getting value from Microsoft and Sony.

Wow, great job! I feel so stupid for selling Apple in the 30s. At the time, I thought I did well because I bought Apple when it was below 20 LOL. I learned my lesson, NEVER sell when a company has record growth, profits and industry changing products.

when i turn 16 can i buy stock accordin 2 uk law?

Why not add me on msn... ish_187@hotmail.co.uk

I love this chart!

I assume this is tracking nintendo, sony, and microsofts stock. This preaty much bullshit as it applys to games expect for nintendo. Microsofts profits do not come from its entertainment division (yet!), sony while still making plently on the ps2, gets a majority of profits from there music, film, and electronics devision (tvs, mp3 players, computers.)

I agree with you.  The run-up of Nintendo has a lot to do with how severely Nintendo was undervalued before the DS and Wii came out.  I am glad to see them back in the running, any they are a pure play on video games, but I don't discount Microsoft or Sony.

The urge to play is a terrible thing to waste.

Actually it has more to do with growth. Nintendo has been able to increase profits dramatically, while MS and Sony have not grown much at all. Nintendo has one of the highest profit/employee ratios of any company on the planet, not just the gaming industry.

would be interesting to put companies like gamestop, nintendo, ubisoft, ea etc side by side.

the Wii is an epidemic.

I think the comparison to companies like Apple and Google are even more interesting. Nintendo has comparable growth and earnings.

I would love it if the Financial Times or Wall Street Journal came out with an article calling Nintendo the next Google, or the next Apple.  I could hang on for that ride.  With Nintendo it may not even be bad luck to dream of stuff like that.

The urge to play is a terrible thing to waste.

Stock analysts analyze Nintendo just as part of their job. I bet they don't even play half as much wii as we do.

As I reading articles talking about wii, I start to realize that stock analysts wasn't even close to understand what kind of product wii is.

I have been tracking wii sales since it was launched. The wii has turned out just as I expected and it was right around this April that I figure I can use this knowledge to make some money.

It did turn out that most stock analysts have under value the wii growth.
