Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I'd like to see a Wii game with a BIG debut

By-the-by, NMH:DS will have the building reputation of its predecessor to thank for its better launch.

No More Heroes sold poorly, and doesn't have many units shipped. Soon enough, units will cease to ship and that is when the game will begin building reputation. Those hard-to-find high-quality games quickly earn fame. Word-of-mouth increases at those times, and the reputation builds in the gaming community.

Then the sequel comes out.

Monster Hunter 3 should be very big ,at least in Japan.

But I dont see NMH2 or The Conduit selling too much.

You have to remember one thing - games that cater most towards core gamers are usually the sort that have the most impressive launches. So-called "core" games sell big at first and have poor legs; more "casual" games sell alright at first and have great legs.

Luckily, I has this data compiled for a previous thread.

There were 17 Nintendo games that had launches over 100k, and 14 3rd party games.
- Dragon Quest Swords had the top 3rd party launch.  It had over 310k in Japan alone.  Monster Hunter 3 should take this spot as the top 3rd party launch week.
- Star Wars: the Force unleashed had the second biggest non-Nintendo Wii launch week.
- GH4 should be able to beat GHIII's launch.

I hope Guitar Hero manages a GREAT debut!!!

There will become more 3rd part Wii games with big debuts when the major franchises from the 6th generation convert to the Wii

GTA V and FFXIV will have huge opening weeks. Although XIV mightn't be released this gen at the rate SE is going

Segajon, We decided to not buy the shit games that Ubisoft made, but still buy the good ones.

Maybe you should apply this same logic to your sentences - Do not say the shit ones, only the good

I read NMH2 was late 09 early 2010, but if the devlopment is so young, i doubt those are accurate release dates. Being released in time for the holidays will obviously help, but i think it will sell very well even if it isnt. Its a niche game, so chances are the people that bought the first game will buy the second game.
