Yeah, I've read ultimately, it's better to program in C and C++ for game programming, but also read that XNA can be good if you're look to start a project quickly because you don't have to develop the physics engine, etc.

I recommend C++ with OpenGL/DX for games, .NET + Directx are easier, but not that optimal (and in games, everything counts)... but XNA is good for a quick start...

OT : if you really want to try making a game I suggest you try making a simple 2d one using C/C++ in combination with allegro or SDL.

C# isn't so bad but I still prefer BASIC... it's for real men.
