Forums - Microsoft - I have an honest question for anyone who has got RROD

Well Iam curious for all those people who have gotten the RROD 2 3 4 5 etc... times y u keep going back to microsoft. I can understand y if it only happened once. I mean some of the wii's have had video card problems and some of the ps3 have had disc reading problems but those are very remote and I have never heard of anyone having the same problem twice on either of those counsels. HOWEVER I do personally know of people who have gotten RROD 2-5 times and are still sticking with Microsoft and some have even said they will get the next xbox too. Some have went out and got a wii or ps3 after 2nd RROD but more then half have stuck with Microsoft and I really want to understand y?

So I would like to get some kind of tally cause Iam thinking of using this as an experiment that my girlfriend can use for one of her upcoming projects at school. So please answer these questions if u dont mind?

DO NOT TURN THIS INTO A FLAME WAR, THIS TRULY IS JUST CURIOSITY!

1. How many times have u gotten RROD?

2. Did u get rid of your 360 cause of RROD and if so what system did u buy to replace it?

3. If you did get RROD do u plan on getting the next xbox?

Thanks for your help

I made a thread awhile back asking this same question. I have no idea how people are able to tolerate it. For me, unreliable hardware completely negates the attractiveness of strong software.

Keep this in mind when reading what I type...

I've been gaming longer than many of you have been alive.

ROFLOL...why no do a search, to find topics covering the SAME question you're asking now? It's been asked and answered, so this topic is worthless.

Not true, I did do some research and it ALWAYS turns into a flame war. I was hoping this site could actually answer the questions without it turning ugly.... only time will tell. On other sites once u sift through the flames and trolls it kinda seems like its because they hate nintendo and sony so much that they stick with 360. I want to see if the 360 fans on this site do it for that same reason?

Mine hasn't crapped out yet, but I think the fact that they fix it for free, no questions asked, keeps people coming back.

For some people 1-2 weeks may be a long time to wait to get your console back, but those that can't handle not gaming for that long are precisely the people who need to take a break and get a life.

It's an inconvenience, but it would not be enough to make me walk away form the amazing software lineup.

Aaaand we have 3 responses with 0 answers. Great. Even MS threads get accosted by Sony fanboys.

As for the answers:

1. How many times have u gotten RROD?

2. Did u get rid of your 360 cause of RROD and if so what system did u buy to replace it?

3. If you did get RROD do u plan on getting the next xbox?

1) Once. On my launch X360 back in March 2007. It lasted me around 1 and 1/2 years.

2) Heck no. If I want to play good video games, I need a X360 so of course I kept it.

3) Of course I will - provided the next Xbox has good games. I go where the good games are.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

1) i had 1 RROD
2) I did not get rid of the 360, but it did take almost 8 weeks for me to get a new one
3) It depends. The RROD did absolutely stir my confidence with the console, and made me appreciate the PS3 that much more.
If the 720 came out within 1.5 years, I would not buy it.

̶3̶R̶D̶   2ND! Place has never been so sweet.

I have not had a RRoD, I have 2 boxes, 1 is almost two years old, the other one is about 4 months old, thinking back on consoles issues, having bought 2 Cubes, 2 PS2s, and remmembering how bad it was at times to get the NES to read the cartridges (having to stuck something above it ja) all I can say everything comes down to games, just the games.
I do have to say however that I am not sure if I will try a box if it keeps crashing for
the thirdth or fourth time.

1) I've had 2 RROD.

2) I drove to the store where I bought it, get it replaced under my extended warranty, and have a new Xbox 360 in my entertainment center 30 minutes after the RROD occured.

3) Yeah I'll get the next Xbox. I mean Sony plans on a 10 year plan with PS3 right? So it won't even have a next gen system for me to even consider getting. Though, if they do have one that comes out with the next Xbox, it'll honestly depend on the exclusive games coming out. I decide what gaming console I get, on the games.

Hey, I went through 4 PS2 DREs, so I obviously like to stick with the system I've chosen.

1. RRoD
2. It's one of the best systems in history. No damn way.
3. Yes, there's no way whatsoever that they'll allow themselves to have such horrible quality control before the launch. However, to make sure, I'll likely pick one up sometime after launch.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?
