Forums - Sales - When the wii stops selling out....

I see tons of Wii boxes in Gamestops all over the place. If I squint my eyes the display only sticker is not even noticable.

To cash in my CC rewards points for $300 in Circuit City gift cards to purchase a 360 or not: That is the question.

Big furry deal, I see lots of Wiis PS3s 360s and DSs for sale but no PSP, thank god I got one on ebay. I guess its winning the console war, hurray...oh wait I like Nintendo....so the PSPs I´m not seeing are bad cause Sony ins´t making enough...or is Sony clever and buliding up demand ? ...damn I shouldn´t have bought a PSP and a Wii, this buts me in a bad position in this War... you just sound stupid if you want everybody to winn.

I don't think anyone expected Wii to come out of the storm gates quite like it has, with perhaps exception to Malstrom.

But given the current climate of things, especially in the general media, I don't see Wii slowing down for at least another year.

Mainly due to the fact that Nintendo is unleashing its own salvo this year. And if you care to be kind and look forward to the first six months of next year, the best of the best from Nintendo will be out all within a year and a half time span. This alone will drive more general gamer sales, beyond the new markets Nintendo is tapping into.

This Christmas Wii will have lots of water cooler talk due to WiiFit, even beyond the buzz the Wii creates for itself as it is. I think this Christmas the Wii will be like Cabbage Patch dolls in the 80's. Mark my words we will see some story on some local news about parents getting into a scuffle due to them wanting to get their hands on a Wii. We might even see some new N64-esque kids.

Not to mention on average it takes only about a year to develop Wii game. So beyond Nintendo's goods, we will see the onslaught of third party developers unleashing their own works near the end of next year, thus keeping sales solid for Xmas 08'.

Wii will stop selling out when Nintendo are able to meet their demand, which will translate to even higher sales numbers.

Heeeeyyyy!!!! <Snap>

Off Topic: That list of all those Wii games is very relevant. Some may think that those aren't good games, but apperantly the masses disagree.

Nintendo is in a good spot as far as profit goes, they will only lower the price when the sales drop to a level where a price drop would bring in more customers at a higher total profit. Using less sophisticated parts though means that the bottom is much closer.

Nintendo probably will release colors in Japan before a price drop. In the US They could once demand goes down.

On topic: I think it will stop selling out in November as Nintendo ups shipments, and then will sell out from Thanksgiving to New Year.
end of 2007 up

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

If you were Nintendo, why would you make less money when your product is still selling like mad? And no one can say when sales will cool, I could see it still super super popular well after Christmas. It's been selling crazypants and it has so few games NOW, imagine after the Big Three at least.

Off topic, but why must people say it has so few games?

Super Paper Mario
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Excite Truck
Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition
Pokemon: Battle Revolution
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
The Bigs
Scarface
Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree
The Godfather: Blackhand Edition
Mario Party 8
Warioware: Smooth Moves
Sonic and the Secret Rings
Wii Play
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07
SSX Blur
Rayman: Raving Rabbids
Wii Sports
Trauma Center: Second Opinion
Madden 07
Elebits

All very buyable games for a wide variety of players. Compare that to the 360 after it had been out for 8 months and the current PS3 and that's a fairly good list.

-edit-
And don't take this as me saying that the 360 or PS3 had bad games, I'm just saying when looking at the other two, the list of Wii games isn't bad at all and comparable and even better (though that's my own opinion).

In my opinion, that list isn't very good at all, and it can't touch the PS3's current library. I see a lack of RPG's, no shooters, no fighters; the list seems be something slapped together. You're really missing alot of of the Wii's best games. Games like Metal Slug Anthology for example. Even if you include alot of the games I'm talking about, I still think that the PS3's libray is not only more diverse, but has better quality as well. I doin't keep track of the 360, so I can't really compare it the Wii. The PS3, however, I can.

Virtua Fighter 5

Oblivion

R:FOM

Enchanted Arms

Ninja Gaiden Sigma

Motor Storm

Madden 07

NBA 2K7

Sonic The Hedgehog

Armored Core 4

Splinter Cell

God Father

I think the PS3 is doing better with games then the Wii. I think that the PS3 covers a bigger range of genre's then the Wii, and I think it has better games in alot of the genre's that the Wii does good in. Also, there're a few games comming in the next few months as well. Games like Lair, Dynasty Warriors: Gundam, Warhawk, and Madden 08. Seriouly, I I don't get how the Wii's Libray would be more diverse then the PS3's. The Wii is looking like the Gamecube (which is a very promising thing) then it is the PS1, PS2 or SNES. The problem is, the Gamecube really only had games that Nintendo fans would like. I see the same thing with the Wii, only with popular mini-games thrown in. However, I think the PS3 is looking like a smaller PS2 in terms of it's diversity; it's library just isn't as large as the PS2's. I just don't think the Wii is for everyone like the PS2 was...

Right, this is your opinion, and you're welcome to it! Lots of us don't agree. The list Twester put together is a list of games that either sold very well, got solid reviews, or did both; if they aren't your cup of tea, no problem. But as you said, it's only your opinion, and thus it doesn't invalidate his point. If people were to say: "The Wii doesn't have many games I like" instead of "The Wii doesn't have many good games" then there wouldn't be an issue here.

QFT, the "hardcore" (aka FPS-RTS-RPG only people) just don't seem to get it.  Same games over and over.   Why is Wii's library considered more diverse? Wario Ware, Rabbids, Elebits, DQ:Swords, Wii Play, Wii Sports, motion controls in general, where else can you get it.

I currently own a PS3 and NO GAMES.... I have bought and traded in 4 with in two weeks of purchase each.

I also own a Wii with 13 games.  Plus I owned 4 others I traded in after 3 months or more.

I am not the majority, I buy a lot of games.  I currently own no FPS on any next/new gen consoles (not true, I own Red Steel but that is to get traded real soon).  I still play timesplitters 1,2, and FP though.

Yes, you're right, it is just my opinion that the PS3 has better games then the Wii. However, what isn't just an opinion is that twisters list is very lacking in some genre's; some genre's, like JRPG's for example, arn't even on the list. The does have great games, every console ever made has great games, IMO.

The DS is a handheld, and really shouldn't be compared to the PS3. In my opinion, Gamecube>PS2, N64>PS1, so I really don't give a shit about when I decide what console I like best. And, from what I understand the 360 has the highest software sales out of the next-gen consoles. Sales arn't everything, you can't tell if a libray is diverse by looking at sales, so I don't know why you even brought the sales up. I already know Nintendo has won.

And? I own a PS3 and 16 games, so it really doesn't matter... Hardcore gamers are not "FPS-RTS-RPG only people". The motion sensing and mini games don't make the Wii's libray more diverse at all. The Wii lacks the ability to out favorite the way they are ment to played. From my time with the Wii, I could see that the Wii mote is not meant for games. It was made for the non gamers with games like Wii sports in mind. It's exactly why the Zelda for example was the way it was. The camera and controls are not up to the quality that I expect from Nintendo, the Quality they gave me with Gamecube Zelda's. The Wii does not add on to gaming, it replaces it, and thats why the Wii is a dwongrade from the gamcube to me. It may be more powerful then the gamecube, but when it comes to games and gameplay th Gamcube blows it away. So, it's not like you're getting classic gameplay and new gameplay, instead everything is being replaced.
