Even so, with the amount of ads on TV I think most people know about the price of it now...

Very little advertisement on Price in My region, more focus on games

the ads are in full effect.

everybody knows about the pricecut.

even its a very few retailers are not selling the at the m$ recommended price, they are minimal compared to the major retailers that are.

don't expect to 360 go higher until the christmas period then go way below after that.

Im refering to the Coles/Bunnings group in australia, which could be more like Wallmart in the states ( and is by far the biggest retailer in our country)

I was down at my local retailers over the weekend and found that there was a huge price variation on the 360 between retailers which was quite surprising to me.

It seams a few retailers (major retailers) have not dropped their price yet, and maybe(just maybe) these could be the reasons.

  • The Price drop has not flown through to all chains
  • The retailers are waiting until closer to Christmas to drop their price
  • The retailers are making more profit while they can
  • The retailers may have brought a large inventory before the price drop and haven't received their rebate (YET)
  • The retailers may have received their rebates in the form of games.
  • They may be waiting for a promotion cycle to begin

Either way the effects of the price drop have not made it through all sales channels yet. I would think that Christmas will be the real decider to if this price drop has had much long term effect.

I also believe that in the coming months, MS will supply a lot of bundles to the market, making the Xbox look to have better value.

[[[[Edit::   My comments refer to "others" and the desert island I live on is "Australia"]]]]

I'm here in Sydney, Australia.  I was under the impression that we didn't get the latest price drop.  IF we did, then you are correct.  Many retailers havent passed it on.

MSRP is a suggested price and stores don't have to sell it at that price, they sell it at a higher or lower price if they wanted to.

Ok.. don't know about a price drop there.. In europe it's in full effect.. the dutch even get an extra discount on a 360..

€149 for the arcade..  almost as cheap as an ps2 (€129), ds (€145) cheaper then a PSP (€165)

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

It's always like this in Europe.

The arcade SKU for example has only dropped about 10 euro here in Denmark after the official price drop. Probably because it was already selling for way below official prices for months prior.

There are no fixed prices in Europe like in america, stores charge basically whatever they want.

Also, if they dropped the prices more, it'll be cheaper than PS2.
That doesn't look too good.

Sales slump....lol...seems like sales are just peachy, unless you have some riddiculous hater expectations. Sales are going to boost high as the sky for the holiday season, which is what really matters.

Well I live in Belgium and on both belgian and french tv I can see these ads saying there was a price cut. I guess it's the same in the other EU countries.
