Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Boom Blox - The Unofficial Review

Well you're entitled to your opinion. I personally loved Boom Blox, and I don't drink. The graphics are certainly plain, but hardly "ugly as sin". You must care a lot more about graphics than me to come to that. Otherwise you make some valid points, but honestly it sounds like it simply didn't click for you.

"Blowing up buildings with bombs and shooting cows with lasers should be a blast but isn't."

Was for me, wasn't for you. That's fine, but don't go telling everyone it's awful and avoid and declare it a public service. I don't go telling people to never play Mass Effect, Wario Land: Shake It, Echochrome, BioShock, Phantom Hourglass, and a few dozen well liked games just because it didn't click for me.

If you truly want to be a help, then let's flesh out the finer points of these disconnects between us to give people who haven't played a better idea what to expect.

I think that I outlined why the controls are bad pretty well.  Also the game is painstakingly boring.  Graphics were the thing that bothered me the least.

OMG, amp316 is so dumb, i can get my head around it.

Boom Blox a bad game?? I purchased it 4 months ago, played it entirely, loved every second, every mode, every level, made tons of leves with the editor, and it is still one of the most played games I have with friends at parties.

The execution of gameplay and controls is exelent, which is the core of puzzle games.

Maybe amp316 was expecting a survival horror / FPS when he played Boom Blox... I can see then why he would be dissapointed.

In any other case, he just lacks intelligence and videogaming maturity

Thank you for your intellegent and mature post.

Exelent spelling.

Hey, thanks man.

Keep the dumbass posts coming! they crack a lot of us up!

Then go back to playing E.T. on Atari 2600.

Don't ever accuse me of liking E.T. You could accuse me of being a serial killer and I would accept that more.

Bit of an over the top and uncalled for reaction.  He is entitled to his own opinion isn't he?  Are all the reviewers that gave GTA4 a 10 dumb just because I don't like the game and they loved it (or were paid (or incenticised to love it)).

And it's not like he is saying Wii Music is a great game.

Hahaha, thanks man, you just made me laugh :)

And by the way, He wasn't stating his opinion, he claimed himself the master of videogame judgment when he said "Boom Blox IS a bad game" instead of saying "I didn't like Boom Blox". Saying that he particularly did not like it would have been an opinion.

Please, keep the funny comments comming!

Consider it done.

I admit I made an error. I figured you had the ability to make the same logical inferences that the average fifth-grader can. My mistake. But allow me to educate you. I will use small words and short sentences.

Most people know that when a person says what they think about something they are stating an opinion. It is not necessary to say magic words like "I believe" to make something an opinion. The rest of us know that reviews are always opinions. That is why we have different reviewers. People with enough brain cells to rub together are able to fill in the necessary gaps in logic chains to arrive at such conclusions without having others do it for us.

But apparently some of us do need the help. Allow me. When amp said that Boom Blox is not a good game he was giving us his subjective thoughts on the game. Subjective is defined here, and sorry for using a big word. We know it is subjective because there is no right or wrong answer on the matter. We know there is no right or wrong answer on the matter because we require multiple reviewers to go over a game and expect all the reviewers to have different judgments. Because what amp said is subjective we know he was not making a factual assertion. Statements come in two main categories, factual assertions and opinions. Because amp was not making a factual assertion, he was telling us his opinion.

My sentences were longer than I thought. I am sorry for that. Next time I will try harder. And there will be a next time. Because you will make there be a next time. Next time we will talk about maturity. Maturity does not mean what you think it means. You are an idiot. (Can you find the opinions in the preceding paragraph now?)

I like it,i just like trying to figure out that "sweet spot" that will get me a gold medal.

However i agree the game is over-rated,i woulnt recommend people to pay 50$ bucks for it and even less have the game near a "Top 10 Wii game" list.

The worst thing about the game for me was the the music,GOD AWFUL!

Would you guys prefer that I be less verbose? I feel bad when I see that my posts take up half the page, while the rest of you guys make your points much more quickly.

That's a pretty slim outline you gave us, let's elaborate.

"...the actual shooting has a delay."

Technically the delay is the shot reaching the target, meaning you have to lead your shots for far away targets that move. That really constitutes more a design issue than a control one. Which I'd agree is annoying design choice. (I had the same issue with Metroid Prime 3) Also the shooting stages make up only a small piece of the whole game, and were my least stages favorite actually. (That and the damn garden hose.)

"This is difficult when you can grab the correct piece only about one third of the time."

I certainly never anywhere as many mishaps as you did grabbing certain blocks. Also the cursor highlights whatever block you currently have selected, so what was leading to this many mishaps? My only complaint was the lack of a zoom function for further precision in the later stages.

You don't mention the throwing controls at all. Which in my opinion could of used more flex room for the mid-range throws.

And again, why is it boring for you? Because it was fun for me, but I really like crazy psychics flash puzzles on the Internet, so I relished a 3D continuation of the same concept. Obviously not everyone will feel that way.
