These people make me want to scream! It's like they're making a conscious effort to miss the point of the OP by picking at one irrelevant figure until it bleeds.

Listen carefully: OP is NOT trying to prove that NHL '09 is superior on PS3. Rather, he's pointing to the fact that certain 360 fans list, in their sig, the number of 90+ rated games each console has on metacritic/gamerankings to advance the case for 360 superiority. And he wants you to see that this game clearly distorts that figure, because it is a 90+ game on one console and not the other, even though the two versions are basically indistinguishable.



Games machines owned: C64*, NES, SNES*, PS1, PS2*, PS3* (*still own).

edit: Because when I look at the average, it shows 89% vs 90%.

 

 You got it. I don't think reviews are worthless. I think saying a game is better than the other because more people reviewed the game to give it a higher average is just silly. and if this one game suffers from less people reviewing it (or at least site like metacritic and gamerankings refusing to put non american publications except a select few) how many more are like that?

Perhaps you haven't noticed, but the usual trend is that a game gets a lower and lower score as it gets more reviews.

 So why is the 360 version have a higher rating here? The reviewers that scored both version are identical.

My point in all of this is unless the scores are from a non variable (The reviewers never change [same amount of reviews by the same people]) quoting things like metacric is useless.

I wonder if you would raise this argument if the PS3 had more 90+ reviews. Call me cynical, but I imagine the answer to that would be 'no'. This thread just smacks of desperation from someone with an unhealthy loyalty for Sony.
