Forums - Sony - Kotaku- Home Impressions .... Ouch

Strong critics on the TGS Home stand

Home should not be shown at trade shows. Absolutely not. Not under any circumstances. Why? Because it is boring. Home is not a game. It's not even a user interface. It's a...thing. Once Sony get around to deciding what that actually is will probably be the time they decide to release it, but until then - and especially in the state it was in for my TGS demonstration - it should be kept as far from prying eyes (and hands) as possible.

Well I'm not a fan of Online Interactions but anyway I was surprised to see a Home stand on the TGS. (a Home stand that didn't show anything important)

thats funny on mny different levels

Are there any other impressions? Since I don't really trust Kotaku...

Former something....

Isn't Home a bit boring without other people though?

I mean, if you're playing an online game without other people, it will be boring.

Sugu yoko de waratteita

Nakushitemo torimodosu kimi wo

Yeah..I thought, when Home was released, that it had potential to be kind of cool. Now that I know a little more about it, it seems like a pointless 'pre-game lobby' that doesn't serve much of a purpose. The interaction is nice and all, and when it comes out I'll probably have a kickass room..but once I'm done with that, I highly doubt I'll regularly use Home, even if more of my friends do get PS3's.

I wanted in the Beta to check it out, but meh..like I said, it's beginning to seem like a pointless application now.

+1 i agree with this to lulz.

It's not that bad. The beta is pretty fun. I just wish I had some more options with furniture. Everything works as advertised though.

I have been in the Beta for almost a year, and it has only been the last few weeks that I have actaully used it. At first I had no freinds in the beta and it was very limited and very boring, but since my brother got in with the last wave of invites I have really started to see what Home can become.

Sony has a very good idea of were they want to take Home, and as we saw at TGS, developers/publishers like what they see. Once everyone has a chance to get their hands on Home, we will start to see the mentality towards it change. As of right now, I can see were this writer is coming from, but usually the games press preview games based on potintial, not on current state. For the time being, take these early REVIEWS with a grain of salt. The software is free, so when it becomes available let it do the talking for yourself.
