Forums - Sony - Approximately how many beta keys of LBP were given away.?

i think LBP had one of the biggest beta key cuz every other site, blog, newspaper gave away beta... so i was just wandering approximately how many key they gave away.? 500k.? or less or more.? i think around 50k were given by one newspaper site.. ( i can be wrong)...

Btw it was a good idea of publicity to give the ppl a chance to play it, cuz i expect LBP to have a lot of replay value... and i don't think advertisement would have given much exposure to the gameplay...

anyway only final sales figure will determine that was the strategy good enough and did giving away so many beta keys worked for the increase sales of the game or turned people off and away from the game

Around the Network

well USA TODAY has 15K alone

I gues other sites must've had even more

TB VERY HONESt

I think counting all regions + ones given to press

I think it may be over 1 Million

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

The first level in the beta has been played by 136k people, but there is no way to know how many people played that level before the beta started. Level 2,3 and 4 have been played by 207k, 151k and 374k.

For the online mode, on the first cool page there are levels played by 60k,58k,50k and 3 all at 46k, but there are 1000's levels so some people may have not played these stages. But this should give you a decent idea of how many are in the beta.

The beta consists of 4 single players levels, access to build your own levels with tutorials and the online mode which gives you access to 1000's of fan made levels.

So this means if we take the intersection then only around 400k LBP keys has been distributed... and if we take union then around 850k keys has been distributed... so i feel my guess of 500k must not be far off... but isn;t 500k quite a large beta for any game.?

Btw how many beta keys were given for MGS and Socom and R2 and other games... any idea.?

I am pretty sure for R2 anyone who pre-ordered the game got a beta key.
