Forums - Gaming Discussion - Castlevania heading to HD consoles

It probably won't be, but I'd love to see what the Castlevania team could do with 2d on the HD consoles.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Maybe Braid designer should work on the next casltevania...as that was the first 2D scroller game since...Viewtiful Joe to have something original in it.

As good as the DS castlevanias were...3-4 hours in I found them quite tedious due to the "I've played this before" factor.

Not surprising, Konami doesn't really like the Wii.

Speaking of 2d/3d mixes, was i the only one who found 2d platforming in SMG to be 100 X more interesting than 3d parts?

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I enjoyed Castlevania 64.

The Legacy of Darkness version was pretty fun, and had some horror elements. Chainsaw Frankenstein is the stuff of my nightmares.

But man, why no Wii love?

How so? Granted their output on the system hasn't been exponential, but then apart from MGS4 they haven't really released all that many goodies this generation (I don't count PES because it's an annual sports franchise).

Have they generally been treating the other consoles better?

It's going to be hard for them to justify Judgement now that they've announced a "real" Castlevania for PS360. This game is going to have to do something really new and awesome with the franchise or it'll bomb hard.

TGS 2008: Castlevania Set for PS3, X360

IGA announces new entry.

strong>October 9, 2008 - Konami held a press event for the Castlevania series today in its booth at the Tokyo Game show. The big news to come from the event, as reported by ITmedia, was first word on a new entry in the series for a brand new set of platforms: the PS3 and Xbox 360.

According to the site, series producer IGA unveiled first foootage for the new title in the form of a 10 second teaser clip depicting a man wielding a red lit sword. Following the clip, IGA hinted that he hadn't been expecting to actually announce the new game, suggesting that a release is still a ways off.

You sir, have just won my "Best Post of the Month" award.

I've been waiting for a Castlevania to play on my PS3 for almost two years, so the news that one is coming is great.

I'm hoping for a (probably late) 2009 release.

This is me hoping very, very hard.

Is it just me, or does this man look like Alucard?

Edit: Anti-hotlinking related error.

Just look at the picture of a man with a sword on the site!
