| Desroko said: Nintendo released a report stating that they will have sold to retail 22.5m consoles by April 2008. Since sold to retail is almost the same thing as sold to consumer for the Wii, you're essentially predicting that they will move only 5m more in the next five months, and around 8m in the three months after. |
First, link the report.
Second, LIKE I SAID, I'd love to be wrong about this, but unless they whip up some more factories in a huge hurry, their current monthly sales trends do not indicate that this will be the case.
Doesn't anyone else remember when Nintendo insisted they'd have 4 million Wiis on shelves by the end of 2006 and they fell short by a million units?
"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks
