Wii sports is escalating positions

When people look at the Wii/DS, they see Nintendo dominating the charts and conclude 3rd party games do not sell on Nintendo platforms.

Going by the same logic, non-Nintendo games do not sell in Japan. That's a shame...

 After the updates i confirm it: Japan to be renamed Nintendoland confirmed! and look! Super Smash Bros. is at 71! :P

Interesting facts:
Mario is the best selling franchise.
Pokemon is the franchise with more than 1 game, with the more units/title sold.
DQ series > FF series in units sold.
DQ series > FF series in average untis/title sold.

Interesting list... too bad neither A Link to the Past or Ocarina of Time are on the list =(

I am absolutely amazed at the Pokemon Red/Green numbers. That is godly legs for a game. The other amazing fact is that Nintendo and Square-Enix are the only companies in the top 25 highest games sold.

So if Tetris is excluded (which is sort of a gray area), are the DKC titles the only non-Japanese developed games on the list?

Square-Enix and Capcom are the only 3rd party what matter in Japan it seems. Here is hope Dragon Quest IX will sell on par with the latest Pokemon games, thus makeing its way into top 10, so we will have at least something non-nintendo there.

Wii should pass PS2 this cmas in games in the top 100 sold. Very nice. Now I know that the PS2 had a crapload of games sell 500k to 1.2 million over, and the Wii has only a couple.... but still the Wii is top heavy.
