Forums - General Discussion - Help I'm being attacked by malware/spyware/virus/madness.

lol, when i got a virus, i just sent all my pics and other shit to my bro's computer, then did a system restore.

lost everything, but the virus was gone. i didn't have much on hd anyways, so no big loss.

If you take it in to someone, they may end up doing the same thing (but a longer process). However, now you will have to pay to get windows reinstalled onto your computer, which may put you back a couple of bills.

virus' suck, and i have a vendetta against everyone who sends them.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is the best Zelda title ever made.

It wasn't porn dammit. It was a fucking torrent of a motherfucking cookbook for fuck's sake. It's quite possibly the only thing I've stolen on the internet in my life that was an attempt to better myself, and I'm paying for every sin anybody has ever committed.

How does porn help you improve yourself... I'm lost.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

look i'm not judging you for looking at porn. I'm just here to tell you how to get rid of your virus problem ^_^

YES!!! The virus isn't stopping me from using PhotoShop and printing! I can do homework!

Hey That Guy, are you related to That One? I hear he's doing pretty good in the polls.

Really good protection against viruses

If you're game, try this:
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe

It adjusts date/time settings and most likely tries to correct them. I've never had a malware infection that's altered them, so I don't know whether it does.

If you remove the source of the popups, the focus of your active window will no longer be stolen every 45 seconds or so.

The Task Manager thing is most likely due to a group policy (which can be edited via gpedit.msc). If it's still disallowed after running ComboFix.exe (and you're brave enough to have run it), try this:
Go to Start -> Run
Type: gpedit.msc <ENTER>
In the Group Policy settings window
Go to User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> System -> Ctrl+Alt+Delete options -> Remove Task Manager (double click)
Choose Disabled or Not Configured
Click OK

WARNING! I take no responsibility for what ComboFix may do to your system. If it breaks your PC and you have to reinstall XP, tough cheddar. On the other hand, I've used it many times and apart from putting IE back on my desktop, it's done nothing detrimental.

Now I can't even use the internet on my computer, so I'm on my wife's laptop. I'm running a scan with Avast before Windows boots up, because when I ran one in safe mode, it found a virus in my system memory and told me to.

Now my main pop-up is PCPrivacyCleaner, which says that there's pr0n hidden all over my computer, and a virus could show it to everybody, which could ruin MY CAREER AND MY MARRIAGE. And the warnings have horrible grammar. It's awesome.

If it gets worse, I'm gonna have to dump everything from my computer onto DVDs, but my burner doesn't work either, so I'll have to move it to my wife's laptop in chunks with my 16 gig USB flash drive, so I can burn it onto DVDs on her laptop, and then save the DVDs for some day in the future when I have a new computer.

If it doesn't get worse, I'll never cook again.
